    What could this be?

DS had a virus last week, which he pretty much seems to be over.... but... towards the end of the virus he started getting these red blotchy, almost rash like, marks on his skin. They can be small, the size of a 5 cent peice, or quite large. But, the funny thing is that they don't last long, max 30 minutes, and they just fade away. They don't seem to bother him, they just look odd.

He's still getting them (maybe not as much as he was last week, but it's hard to tell). If anything they seem to come on when he gets flustered or worked up. They appear anywhere and everywhere on his body, including his face. At first I thought they were triggered by firm touch, but now I can't really put it down to anything.

DH is a bit worried, but I'm leading towards it being the last part of the virus he had. Mind you I've never seen or heard of anything like this. Has your LO had something similar? Would you take him to the GP just in case?

My GF little girl had something very similar only a few weeks ago. She's a bit older than your DS, but the GP put it down to her virus. Hers moved all around her body but they were a bit longer lasting.

However, random moving rashes are concerning if you ask me, a chat to your GP probably wouldn't hurt. Especially as it's been over a week. Viral rashes don't usually last more than a couple of days.

Why don't you ring the Health Direct helpline. They can advise whether you need to be concerned and take your DS to the docs or not. They are registered nurses on call 24/7 and are national so doesn't matter where you are. Their number (in case you don't have it) is 1800 022 222. Its probably just the virus but asking the question of a professional won't hurt. I know when my DS who is a little bit younger than yours have random spots on his body they put it down to virus.

Thanks ladies, it's pretty much cleared up now, so guessing it was just a part of the bug he had.
