    Weight

I always see things for weight loss, but what about weight gain?
I want to be able to put on some weight but no matter what I do/try/eat I seem to stay at my same weight, and I feel I'm underweight

    Any tips or suggestions?

    TIA

Have you seen a nutritionist, or your dr? You could have a naturally high metabolism, or an underlying condition that slows your ability to gain weight

Are you actually underweight, or do you just feel it?

I should of added the high metabolism

Well I did one of those BMI things a few months back, and at my height I should be about 65-68kgs, But (at the time) I was roughly 50kgs (had sat on this from ages14-20), and since then I have lost weight, due to stress from and at last check I was 46.5kgs, about 2-3 weeks ago

sounds like you have gone through a bit

As I said before, maybe a nutritionist would be the best person to talk to about increasing your weight. You don't want to eat junk food because that won't be healthy for your body. Good luck, let us know how you go with it

Thanks UntoldAngel, I shall give it a go, going to book a dr app soon so I will ask him/her what I can do or try and see if I get a referral to a nutritionist or something.
Will be sure to update once I know what is going on and how I can fix it

mrslancer, i will swap positions with you any day lol, if you want to be 65 kg ill be 50kg...
I second seeing a nutrition, my dh is the same as is my ds, they are both tall, dh about 6.3 and 6o kg and my ds is 4 and is well lets just say the height of a 7 yr old. and his only 17 kg, as soon as they eat, off they go to the loo. I am very envious. lol
Do you drink coffee? anything that makes your bowels move quicker? Maybe back off anything that has laxative effects?

I drink coffee on occasion, only been having a single cup of tea a day lately (no coffee left ) But coffee never really effected me at all. My body burns everything up too fast so half the time I only get bowel movements every other day (sorry for the tmi) I can eat till I feel I am about to explode and with in half an hour to an hour I'm hungry again. It drives me insane!
Is there any natural way to slow down the metabolism? Would rather trying to avoid meds of any kind as I tend to get a bit slack and forgetful with them I also seem to have a very small stomach which also drives me bonkers as I would love to be able to eat a proper full sized meal in one go rather than 2 or 3

hhhmmmm funny thing is when dh has asked our local gp about things to slow it down, they said its very rare to find anything that actually works.. Maybe go to a health food store and ask them about it, sounds exactly like my dh, excpet he goes to the loo maybe 3-4 times, same as my ds. I actually was asking my ds's specialist the other day and he said Not that he knows of, due to ds being so tall and his weight his bones pertrude out and you can see his veins etc lol bit ewwwyy.. But he said people with fast metabolisms where blessed lol.. It must be frustrating though, as much as its frustrating losing weight, i dont think anyone realises what its like trying to put it on and keep it on...

My oldest brother is the same, He is about 6"6, really skinny (more than me!) but my other brother, the middle child, is of "normal" build and has no issues with losing weight or gaining it.
I hope I can find a way to get to a 'healthier' weight! Then clothes can fit me properly!!

    Thank you for the help!

Hunny when i'm training really hard I have the same thing. You can buy a pure carb powder and add that to food. Add it to a protein shake (or buy one with high carbs). PP was right...not junk food because you'll do yourself more damage.

Just remember carbs are your friend lol. Do you train at all? Also good fats, Avocad, nuts, Olives, salmon etc

I had to put on weight when I was younger. I'm 65kg now, but was 39kg. I grew really fast and wasn't in to eating and lost heaps of weight.

Go to the chemist and buy some poly-jule (sp?) and some sustagen. Thats what I used. They worked wonders.

You can get medicare funded nutritionist appointments, like the mental health plans, through your GP.

Hi there it's your stalker! lol.

How funny I have the same problem. Except now I lost heaps of weight after DS was born as I just don't sit still.

BUT when I was a lot younger, I always struggled to put on weight. My brother got really sick one day and we were all in the hossy for weeks on end and I lost 5 kg which was a lot for me back then. Anyhoo, I ended up at the gym doing weights only (no cardio) and took those protein drinks. I put on 6 kg and kept it on ever since. So I was really happy that I could put the weight back on. Of course as I got older the weight just seemed to stay on as my metabolism slowed down.
But now back to square one, I am too skinny once again, with an acive 14 mo.

Ahhh Miss.B, I am getting quite used to having a regular stalker now I have thought about the gym, but I'm too scared I will end up like one of those body building woman that look realllllyyyy scary I want to walk more, just to get fit again (Got soooo lazy) But it is hard to get DF motivated to walk, as he needs to lose a bit of weight on top of my being unfit

Thank you all for your help and advice, and your own experiences!

Will NEVER happen hon! Those woman train specifically for that...massive weight very low rep. I may get yelled out for saying this but in all my experience I have never seen a female body builder (or male for that matter) who gets like that without using steroids.

You wouldn't have enough testosterone to get that big

ETA just wanted to add that I know a LOT of unhealthy skinny people...not saying you're one of those, but skinny people tend to think that they don't need to exercise because they're not over weight. It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside...exercise is important for everyone to have a healthy heart, lungs, CV system etc

    Hi,
I would see your GP as well as a nutritionist. I am in the same boat and had to have various medical tests to rule out medical conditions. Everything was ruled out. I then had to keep a food diary to give my nutritionist an idea of what I was eating in a day, but that was all normal too.

Now I am currently working on building my muscle tone to fill myself out a bit and give me the extra weight. Nothing I did or could have done would have made me put weight on and maintain it, so this is my only option.

Don't worry about turning into a body builder that takes a lot of work and protein and special body building exercises. I do mainly dancing and calisthenics to build up my abdominal, gluteal (buttock) and quadricep (thigh) muscles.

The thing I found the hardest were the comments other people made about my lack of weight, and the fact it seems to be socially acceptable to make comments about being too skinny but not too fat. It hurts.

    Good luck!

Thanks! Makes me feel at ease to know that My DF would be horrified if I ended anything like that hehe. I used to get alot of exercise, walking/riding a push bike everyday and long rides/walks were so easy for me. Then I got my drivers license and well, it all went down hill from there I get puffed out from walking up a small hill
For a while we had no car and my DF was off his feet due to an accident with a sword and his foot....(long story there!) and I had to walk 2kms up to the shop every other day for shopping, and it wasn't so bad other than the horrible heat!! But now the car is back, it's back to being lazy again I guess it doesn't help me being a shy person around others which stops me from doing any form of exercise in public areas (gym, parks etc) But Getting over this weight thing might (hopefully) boost my courage too

Yes this is true too, regarding the hormones and steroids. I know a few body builder females (and males) and they take things to make their bodies capable of getting like that. I didnt want to say it in my previous post in case of offending people but ill back you up
