Question Charity Walks / Runs Melbourne?

So HotI and I have been walking together for a while now, we love it, we enjoy each others company and it's a chance to get fit and healthy.

We've discussed on a number of occasions now about how it would be great to find a charity walk or run (we would be walking with prams) to enter a BB team, get a few girls together, have a bit of a meet and a giggle and be fit and healthy while we do it.

So does anyone know of any that we could possibly look at doing, maybe for a charity close to someones heart.. preferably during some nice weather and giving people enough chance to get into a state of fitness they are comfortable with?

I know Run for the kids and Mothers day Classic have allreday been done this year and are both for good causes. I would be ineterested in being in a BB team!

Run Melbourne is on July 17.

You can essentially choose to raise money for any charity you like. You need to register first (i think it is $40) and then visit a site called Everyday Hero which is a donation portal. You can choose a charity and build a personal/team homepage to start accepting donations from your friends.

I am doing it for a charity that is close to my heart.

    Good luck!!

Thanks n2l, would that be long enough for people or do we want to maybe aim for later in the year?

I'd like to do one. Not sure I'd be up to running by then but I'd certainly walk it at least.

there's the sussan classic. it might be called something different now but it's usually later in the year - maybe early december? i did it last year - you can do 5km or 10km & you can walk or run. it starts in st kilda & goes down beaconsfield parade. it was good fun.

or there's shorter distances with the marathon but i'm not sure if they're all geared for runners?

i'd love to join as well if you end up doing one

ETA - very happy to support most charities/causes

I'd love to help out, not sure if I could make it to the event. I'd LOVE to, tho. I'd try my hardest.

I'd be happy to be apart of something raising money for the Neonatal Unit in RCH, RCH in general, Premmie Foundations, Birth Defect research, SIDS, anything to do with bubs.

No running with. I'm happy to walk, tho.

I would love to do it too. The Sussan classic always lands on my birthday! And there's no way I will be up for it this year (see significant birthday approaching in my sig ) but any in Sept/Oct/Nov might be good.

I might try google tonight, I would Love anything to help SIDS or rch or cancer etc.

What if we aimed for sept/oct for a 'walk' rather than run.
Maybe we could get some purple tops or something ?

We could always just get together and do one and donate $ to SIDS if there isn't anything

Start to finish is a good website for listing funruns

DH and I did the Mother's Day classic last year. We did the 4km walk. It was really great, positive and cheery. We did it first thing in the morning and then had the rest of the day to do our Mother's Day things.

Maybe an annual BB walk for the kids, held in every state?
Wonder how you would go about organizing a track etc?

I will google and pop up a list of ideas?

It depends where you want to have it. The tan is 3.8km and albert park lake is about 5km, both are public.

Didn't get on google but I will at some stage today, I would like something that although walking pushes us a bit.
HotI and I walk about 5km regularly so would really like something to make us work without running
