I LOVE my Ergo. I can't fault it TBH. It is so comfortable. When I wear DD on my back I can't even feel her weight.
You won't regret buying one, I promise!
I have heard LOTS about the Ergo and I think I want to get one. I have a Hug-a-bub that I use for the sort of 0-4 month stage, and also a sling that I used when DD1 was bigger on my hip for quick trips into the shops etc.
But I want something for when DD2 is a bit bigger and I can put her on my back too so I can still have my hands. In the HAB she's kinda in the way and I can't see what I'm doing and I also need one hand supporting her head if she's awake.
So does everyone love the Ergo? It seems like it? Is there anything wrong with it? Is it as comfy as the HAB to wear for long periods??

Oh yes, love my ergo! Still use it for DD (25months) when we walk to the shops (about 15mins each way) every few days if she isn't up for the pram or walking. Always been comfortable in it, can't imagine carrying DD for long periods without it now that she is so big haha.
Yes, I <3 it - it's fanastic. I have to admit I do struggle with the side position and mostly wear DD on my front but I have used the back position and she loves it.
I find it really difficult to put on without assistance. I can't get the strap between my shoulder blades fastened and that really frustrates me! It is very comfortable when it is on and I'm looking forward to using it on my back when DD is bigger.
I did until the kids got too long in the body (you know the height of DH so I have tall kids!) and felt like they were going to fall out.
I don't think it's the best SSC out there, but it's good for the money you pay. JMO of course!
Love mine! Used it for both kids - I bought the heart to heart insert for DS and it was awesome.
So comfy. I can get it on front position with no assistance but it does take a few goes to get the hang of - like a HAB, which I never quite did get the hang of tying!!
I'm yet to venture into the back wearing position but I hear it's fantastic.
Thanks guys!
How big do they have to be before you can use it (without insert)? And, where's the best place to buy? Actually I think the PBC expo might be on here in June, could get a bargain then.
Mel- what is you fav carrier?
Heaven my friend who sells them is actually having a discount today for Friday the 13th, 13% off if you wanted to buy one today online! She ships to NSW.
Let me know if you're interested.
As for how big - they need to be about 4 mths, starting to develop head control. Not sure if there is a weight range...
ETA - Ergobaby website says if you want to use the carrier for babies younger than 4mths then you need an insert. Doesn't say weight. I think it's because of their spinal development, or lack thereof, before 4mths.
Oh really? I don't think she'd fit in the insert now. She won't even let me squish her legs up in the HAB any more, they're hanging out so she's being carried around in the same position as the ergo anyway.
Thanks for that! Can you PM me your friend's website?
I heart my ergo. DS was in ours from about 3.5 months with no insert.

love love love my ergo! dd2 is a reflux baby so it has been my godsend. I got mine when dd was 6 weeks and not a day has gone by where I haven't used it.
it does take a few go's to be able to do the clasp up at the back on your own (well it did for me!)but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature!

I'm with Mel, i do like my ergo, but it's not my fave.![]()
My beetlebum carrier and pikkolo get used more than my ergo.![]()
I am also looking at getting an ergo but am tossing up between the normal and the performance. Has anyone used/heard anything about the performance?
Also, OceanPrincess do you mind sending me the link too?
Thanks![]()
What am I doing wrong? How do I do up the back strap without contorting myself and dislocating a shoulder??
Sorry to hijack...
You might need to slide the back straps up a little so they are not so far down. That way they will be easier to grab and clip together.
