A new law in metro Atlanta will limit breast feeding in public...

FOREST PARK, Ga. -- A new law in metro Atlanta will limit breast feeding in public. On Monday night, Forest Park passed a public indecency ordinance to prevent public nudity. Previously, the city only had a public indecency ordinance that covered adult entertainment businesses.According to the law, no woman can breast feed anyone older than 2 years old in public. City manager John Parker called the law a proactive step.“It sets up a process whereby we can try to control nudity throughout the entire city," Parker said.
    WTF?? Makes me so angry.

I don't know how this law could apply to breastfeeding as well - being able to eat is a basic human right protected under the UN. They wouldn't want to try and enforce this regarding breastfeeding, there would be hell to pay.

Lets hope they ban skimpy skirts and low cut tops and better make that singlets on big beefy men too as clearly they will be showing more skin then a breastfeeding mum!

    Stupidity at its best.

I'm curious as to how they enforce it. I can just see some poor woman with an 18month old being arrested or fined because her child looks older than 2. Are they supposed to carry identity papers for their children now?

If they want to reduce public nudity, how about an ordinance against builder's crack? No bending over in hipsters.... The start of the clothing police.

I am amazed they set the age so high. There are parts of America where you can't feed a child over6 months old. Not to mention the States where homebirth is fully illegal.

Seriously!! WTF??? You are feeding your child for goodness sake! I agree with the other ladies - BAN - the builders crack (esp hariy ones!!) , do not bend over in hipsters!!, wear a top that fits you so your (.)(.)'s are not falling out, make skirts a bit longer than just covering your bottom!!! The list is endless really!!!! Probably a man came up with law!!!

What gets me is the lack of logic. If the issue is nudity, then how did they come up with the ban on children over 2 years old feeding in public? How is the exposure, if any, of their mummy's breasts more if the kid is 2.5, 3 or 4? How is it less if the child is 20 months?

It's not about nudity at all. It's about breastfeeding.

This has to be a joke? Honestly, as others have said, what makes it nudity ONLY after a certain point?

    Reeeee-diculous!

I reckon you might be right!

Excellent link. I see there are many people on the case. What got me was the incomprehensible drivel from the counsellor who abstained (see comments). If you dont agree with something, vote against, you pansy.

There's a petition you can sign now, not sure if I'm allowed to link.
