The best way to go about volunteering in my local area?

Now both kidlets are at school, my business dreams have been put on hold and while I'm working out what to do next I would like to do some volunteer work but really have no idea how to go about it.

I did a lot in my teens but it was always organised through school.

Anything I need to be careful of?

Check out seek volunteering. They list volunteer jobs all over Australia and you can search for certain types or areas. Otherwise Pro bono.

If you're after just a short stint you can volunteer for SIDS and kids day on June 24th. I am

Contact your local council. The one where I am organises a lot of volunteers and there is a huge variety of roles available.

I currently volunteer at our local historical village. I did it during the week before I was working, and now I go on the weekend with the kids. It is a great thing to do.
