    Prep/reception

This may be a really silly question... but...

What is the difference between "prep/reception" and just "prep"?

I'm filling out an enrollment form for DS for a school (seems crazy to be doing this when he's just turned 2!!!), and I have to choose either "prep/reception" or "prep" as his entry level.

I don't even know what year he's meant to start! Lol!

I don't even know what reception is? Isn't that a term they use in other states? and WOW at filling out school forms already!!

I have no idea either, lol. My only guess is that it's sort of their equivalent of kindergarten? On the list it has prep/reception, prep, grade 1, grade 2 etc... So one can only assure that it would be a year before prep, I think, hehe.

I rang the school today to ask about when to fill in enrollment forms. They asked me how old he is, and when I said he'd just turned two she told me to get the forms to them as soon as possible because some people send in the forms as soon as the kids are born!!! Makes me wonder whether I should be filling out a form for DD as well. But if DS doesn't get in then I wouldn't be sending DD there because she'd go to the same school as DS.
