Anyone doing the Global Corporate Challenge?

Is anyone on here participating in the global corporate challenge 2011?

We started yesterday and I thought I would just do a typical day - no extra exercise or anything just to see what my step count was. That way I have something to improve on for the remainder of the time.

My step count for yesterday was 7112 steps.... now lets see if I can consistently improve on that. My first goal is to get to 10,000 steps, and then to do it easily without thinking about it! I'm really looking forward to this little journey!!

I'm not doing it this year, but have for the last two years. I found that I HAD to do a 30 minutes lunchtime walk to get to the 10,000 steps. It is amazing though how many steps you can get by doing laps of the lounge room while you brush your teeth, having the washing pile in the kitchen - but the folded area in the dining room, jogging on the spot while watching TV etc.

Have fun, I love logging in each day to find out where in the world you are.

Me too, they write about it with a real sense of humour so it isn't just dry facts and figures. We're on the South Island of NZ at the moment. We started in Milford Sound and are now on our way to Queenstown!

One of my team mates just informed me that he walked his bins out last night instead of driving them, and then walked next door to feed their dog rather than driving (obviously he's on property!) so it has already changed his habits!

Oh, and thanks for the tips about walking around the house! Every step counts!

Just don't overdo it though - I gave myself a back injury jogging on the spot (barefoot) while catching up on an episode of Grey's Anatomy last year while DH and DD were napping. Quite sore for a few days.....

Oh dear!! That would have counteracted all the extra steps you had been putting in too I'm sure!

Ooohh!! I did this when I was working! DH & I used to go for a quick walk around the neighbourhood at the end of the day if we were short on steps. One year, it coincided with our Europe trip. We did 30,000+ steps in one day walking around Barcelona! So much fun. Good luck with it!
