    Birthday prezzie for a 1yo?

Ok, so my wonderful parents are shelling out $100 for DS's first birthday prezzie

They've given us the cash, and it's up to us to organise the gift ... but my dad wants it to be:

    1. something just for DS (ie: not something which will be passed down from munchkin to munchkin)

    2. something that will last for a while (ie: not clothes)

    ideas??

I would hope that DS will share with his siblings enough that the first point is a non issue! But those are the requirements ... so given that they're being pretty generous, I'd invite ideas!

DS has tons of books, so not that ... and he has quite a few toys, too ...

I was thinking a pedal car or a ride on toy or some sort but they seem to be more than $100.

Then I was thinking a really nice quilt - but for a home made one, I'm not sure I'd get one for $100!

    Other ideas?

    TIA

    a sandpit

a photo session, with the grandad in the pics with your DS1.

I second (or was it third!) wooden stuff. Don't know about your ds, but my dd is nuts for putting things in and out of things. I don't need a shape sorter though as max already has that. Maybe you can find something like that but wooden, classic and long lasting.

I got dd a pram for her doll, a fisher price play phone.... She loves buttons! And a big gorgeous wooden puzzle which I know she will love.

If you are looking for a cool bike or the like maybe get him a radio flyer one.... They're cool!

fantastic ideas! I'm thinking a little rocking toy and a train set.

I found a 2nd hand rocker and a wooden train set and can get both for $100

    thanks!

something that is long lasting and wont be handed down that i can think of is a piece of jewellery a charm maybe or a pendant on a chain. i know its not much fun to play with jewellery but will last forever

or a book that incorparetes his name something special for just him...
