    What's this rash??

Well we are back in our trusty cloth after my disposable adventure

But... One bad thing... DS has had a bright red rash on his thighs, which cleared up while he was in sposies, and it's now back after just one day in cloth again.

It's on the top of his thighs, around where the nappy leg elastic sits against the skin.

It's bright pinky red and not really like a rash, like the whole patch where it is rubbing is red, as opposed to red and blotchy or spotty. It's also quite hot to touch...

Any ideas? How can I treat it? Do I need a different cream - I've been using Bepanthen, I've also tried the RCH Nappy cream and Brauer's nappy cream... Nothing seems to help.

i have heard of babies having reactions to the elastic in the legs of some nappies. Could it be that? Are all your nappies the same fabric? Could you try something else?

The other thing it might be is a friction rash. are the nappies tight around the leg or does it rub?

I feel like i'm always banging on about moogoo, but it really does work wonders. Have you tried that?

No I haven't JM - where do I get it from?? I've heard lots of people talking about it but don't know where to find it...

My nappies aren't all the same but they are mostly the same type - AIOs. I wonder if it's the PUL or something?

They can also react to the materials in the lining, I know some can't use itti bitti's because it causes a rash.

I wonder if I switched to just the flexitots (they've got a bamboo cotton blend against the skin...) for a while to see if maybe it's the microfleece causing it...

sounds like a burn rash - from rubbing on him

have you changed washing powder lately??? that might be the culprit??

If you do use sudocream, you need either a disposable or a liner.

Moogoo you can get on-line direct from them, or many health feed shops stock it now. The msm soothing cream is what you want. It's water based so no need to use a liner or anything.

FOE was what i was trying to think of. It's fold over elastic. I have heard of lots of ladies having issues with that. Have you posted in the cloth nappies general discussion thread, the ladies in there might have some ideas?

Thanks gals. He's been in one of the fitted+cover combos for almost 24hrs and it seems to have cleared up marginally. I wonder if it's the elastic or the microfleece...

Thanks JM - I might look into it, I've been meaning to for a while now!

Will also post in the other thread...
