We are in the market for a compact digital camera. Our Pentax has finally given up.

I don't want to spend the $ on SLR just yet.

Any reccomendations? I love taking short movies as well as photo's of the kids.
The Pentax had a delay when taking a photo which was a pain. I assume they have improved?

Ideally I am happy to pay around $300.
