Hitting the snow with the kids?

DH and I thought it might be fun to take the kids to the snow this year for a weekend! We would only be going for maybe 3 nights.
where is the best place to go and the best place to stay? Also is it best to just hire the ski type clothes down there? Also is there an age limit on the kids skiing?

    Thanks x

Where would you go? NSW ? Then your options are Perisher and Thredbo. Best place to stay would be Jindabyne as the accommodation is much cheaper. We go every year, DD was 5mths old the first time she went, on skis at 18mths and on a snowboard at 2.5, obviously not carving up the slopes but having a good go at getting used to it all. DS will be 4 mths when we go this year.

DH and I have always gone and we didn't want to give it up as we both love it so much. You can get good snow gear on eBay or even Aldi if there is one close - next week is there snow sale, then sell it on eBay if you won't use it again.

Have a look on the perisher or Thredbo websites as they have heaps of info. If you have any more questions just let ms know I'd be glad to help.

Oooohhhh.... pm me if you head down near Jindabyne.. its a stones throw away from my house!! :-) We have a room its very cheap !!!

We only just moved here so I dont really know any advice of the best places, but apparently the town i live in (Cooma) goes crazy at snow season and we have already had a little bit of snow here already, so it would be worth a look!!! :-) (No slopes as such here, we are just like the town near the snow kinda thing)

in NSW you can also go to Selwyn slopes. It is a small resort that is very family and beginner friendly.
From qld there is no reason not to go to Victoria instead. Falls creek claims to be closer to Brisbane than the big NSW resorts.
You can hire clothes there and I think you might know someone with some kids clothes you can have...
We're at Jindy and Perisher most weekends.
If you happen to stay at Jindabyne mid-week I know a really cheap place you could stay....

The kids are fine to ski at any age, I was 2 and skiing. Look at their learn to ski programs for the kids.

The Victorian ski fields are approx 2-3 hours from Melbourne and there are a variety of them around, I'm going to be sampling this year, might do a weekend drive to the NSW fields too.

Mid week is always better, just stay away from school holiday times, not only with families, but school ski trips.

we're going to take both girls this year. (Mainly because DD1 wont stop talking about making a snowman! )

We have taken DD1 just before she was 1yr and she had a great time. Other than that shes played in the snow we had where we were living I think this year will be awesome, with both of them being able to run around and interact with each other!

Maybe, if you get your Boomba, we may bump into each other!
