Question I dont know what to do..............

Hi Im a single parent and have been a offered a fairly lucrative position in the local coal fields which will require shift work, of which the details are unspecified. Whereas I would normally jump at this opportunity I am having a hard time shaking feelings of guilt in relation to my son. He will be two in August and thus far has not been put into any form of day care, Im worried about the possible affects of placing him in a child minding facility. I am hoping to score night shift work so as to better suit my life style, I am blessed with very supportive parents who are willing to provide care at night, I am just wondering whether there are any other single parents out there juggling shift work and or coal mining jobs with an infant, how they manage/cope. I know he is only little for a short time, and I have had the luxury of seeing all the little milestones but I also want to provide a comfortable and secure lifestyle/future for him. I have turned down this opportunity twice before and know that it might not come again. I would love to hear any advice from any sole parent at their that has experienced a similar issue.

Have no idea what you are going through but this came to mind when I read your post.

If you are going to do nights you are still going to have to spend some of the day time for sleep.
What part of the day or night is special for you with him?
What part is your best sleep time, day or night?
Are your hours suitable to spend time with him?

All the best as you weigh up your options
