    QUICKLY! Tips for syringing hydralyte

Lets face it, it taste like C**p but I really need to get some into my 2.5 yr old. She clamps her mouth and what I do get in there she spits back out and what she does swallow she spews anyway.

I need this to work to try and avoid a late night hossy trip.

When my boys have needed it I have shoved it in side of cheek and pushed in 1 - 2 ml at a time.

Good luck hope better soon its hard work and sad as they dont understand need for it.

Have you tryed the icypoles?? (not that my kids would eat them either but I tryed)

give her water, let her sip it. even some cordial if she'll drink that...
If shes really fighting the hydrolyte I wouldn't force it.

have you tried hiding it in some juice or her favourite drink cup. you could also try wetting a facewasher with it and letting her suck on it. How about crushing up the icy pole and putting it in a cup so she can eat it with a spoon? Just putting out things that have worked for mine. Best of luck.

Have you tried a different flavour? Especially the icy-pole, she may not get the same association.

We have the same problem with panadol or nurofen. But I can get DD to take it if I give her control over the syringe. I give it to her empty so she can have a play. I then fill it and give it to her, she puts it in her mouth and then I plunge it a small amount at a time. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but it is far more successful this way then me forcing it.

Oh, and putting it in a small amount of milk has worked too!

    Good luck!

I used to give my kids a few drops powerade mixed with hydralite because they hated hydralite on its own.

We get the premade hydrolite in blackcurrant flavour from the chemist. My kids just think it's juice. But yeh I would just give water if the hydrolite isn't working, but make sure it's only 1/2ml per kg every 10 minutes or it will yeh, just come back up xx
