Hi!
I'm just wondering if anyone in the Brisbane area knows if there are any private ENT drs that operate in a public hospital?
DD2 (13months) has had middle ear infections at least twice a month for the past 7 months. Plus has been hospitalised for bronchiolitis in this time. It seems like the poor little miss is hardly ever well.
My GP has been talking about ENT's for a while and I have a follow up appt with her on Wednesday. I was just hoping to have a couple of names of drs that are good that would make the referral process easier. I went totally private for DD1's tonsils, adnoids and grommits op and know how expensive it is! Just hoping to make it a little more affordable but know that the public wait list is really long.
you'll find all ENT's are private and do ops in both public and private hospitals...the difference other than the cost would be the waiting time for public!
ETA id also be surprised if they did grommets after 2 ear infections...DD had numerous ear and sinus infections (around 9 combined) ina 9 month period before my GP would even give me a referal!! i begged and begged for one, luckly when we finally got one she had the grommets put in 5 days after seeing the ENT xxxx

Thanks, yes twice a month. We have tried different AB however she is intolerant to penicillan so we are a little limited. She was off AB for a whole 9 days this time before getting another one! And that was even with me on them and still feeding her. I am just really lucky that she is a happy baby - even while sick once she has had pain relief she is generally back to her happy self. I will talk to my GP on Wed, she is really great so will help I was just hoping for some recommendations to take to her.
I don't have PHI but I will be paying to have them done anyway, just trying to find a dr that will operate in a public hospital. This way I will only have to pay for the dr and anethiesist, it's the hospital that costs the most.
like i said they will all operate out of both public and private butif you go public you may have a long wait (unless they class her as urgent)
my ENT operates out of both as my friends DD had the same surgeon as my DD, only she had to wait
