OK, I have very low supply and can only really give about 2 good feeds a day (which still require FF topup). Will now has teeth, and they are hurting me incredibly. I have said "NO BITING" when he bites and that's OK to begin with, but he does comfort suck and chews. I suspect the culprit is that when he chews on the silicon teat of the bottle we aren't aware to say "NO" to him.
Is he still using slow teats, or have you upgraded him (as the teat packs suggest)?
You may need to go back to the under-3-month teats, so he gets used to slower flows again, and doesn't bite when things don't come as fast as a bottle.
One idea might be try giving him the top ups in a sipper cup instead of a bottle. Otherwise the biting could be from teething at that age, so giving him something cold to chew on before a feed might help. At that age paying really close attention to his position and attachment can help - if his tongue is over his bottom teeth then he can't bite. Sometimes at that age the little wrigglers move around a lot when feeding, holding him close with his legs tucked in around you might help.
You are doing really well hun, I hope you can find something that stops the biting!
Hmmmmm so go back to the days of offering a big biscuit of boob, like when we first started? That's an idea, was (briefly) considering that this morning.
Unfortunately, the sipper cup isn't something my husband would commit to - and he's the primary carer of the boys. I suggested that we return to the slow-flow teats but that was almost an arguement in itself ...
