How do you get intolernaces/allergies tested?

    hi all,

In the last few weeks it is becoming pretty clear that I am lactose intolerant. Mainly because I have been so sick for a couple of months, milk tastes horrid (which is weird) and the second I stopped consuming diary products my whole body feels better. I had welts that are going, I was itchy after consuming dairy, not to mention the unpleasant tummy troubles.

So my question is, I think its time to get this made official by going to my gp, but what exactly is involved in testing for intolerances/allergies? Also is it covered by medicare?

And please forgive my mispelling on the title, must remember to spell check before submitting!!

As above they may also make you do an illimination diet to make sure that is the only intollerance/allergy

    Thanks ladies,
although I have to admit the bowel sample was not what I was expecting.. I had heard it was a blood test (a friend has to get her daughter tested, and the gp took a blod sample). I dont mind the idea of an illmination diet, well Im doing that now anyhow so wouldnt be too much of a bother anyhow!

    Thank you
