Hiya Belfie! I remember you from the TTC thread when we were both there! Ouch, your poor DH! Hope he passed the stone and the pain is gone now. My Dad gets kidney stones often and have needed surgery twice to get them removed. I've never had one, but can only imagine how painful they are as I have actually seen my Dad in tears over one once. Must be horrific! Hope your LO's are doing well and looking forward to chatting with you on here!
xoxo
PS: Do you girls have a list of when your bubba's were born? As I'm new to the thread I'd love to know when your bubs were born which is handy for remembering to say happy birthday to them when they turn 1. If you don't have a list, I'd be happy to start one if you like.....?
Oooohhh Belfie your poor hubby. My Dad suffers from them but has been on Zyloprim (sp) for decades now to keep the salt crystals or whatever in check. Seeing a grown man in THAT much pain is super scary. I hope DH is feeling much better now.
Pretz - I actually have to go back this month for a follow up ultrasound to see if it has grown. Going to bed earlier than 11 and 11.30pm might help me feel better too! lol I just keep going and going and then am asleep before my head hits the pillow.
How is Noah now? I used to rub Alannahs gums for her or give her a damp face washer to chew on. Her first two were the worst and after that they just popped through! It was like the invasion of teeth remember. lol
AFM: Late night last night for the kids so Alannah has only had a bottle so far and that was at 7.30am. Now 10.50am and she is only just starting to stir after going up to preschool with the boys.
Insanely GORGEOUS day here today. Just waitng on (Alannah and) a delivery, have something to eat and I might go for a massive walk to a local shoppping centre. Probably a 7km round walk!
Fuzzy - I knw how that is, but I have a cold lately, so have more time ( couped up at home) so have been on here a bit more.
Belfie - hugs for DH he's just having a rough time of it huh?
Vix - yay for 9 months. I was saying yesterday - 22nd June - that Hannah was as old as a pregnancy! Right now my darling girl is laughing as she licks the rug she is sitting on. ( I typed this bit last - got to run now)
Pretz - I hear you - HB is cutting 3 teeth at the mo, and has been crying lots and really restless... but so far so good she hasn't caught my cold.... yet. FX.
I don't think we have a list in the thread - I have one someone I think, or Buzzie used to do them up, I will see if I can find one from our belly buddies days.
About being low on iron? Are you cold too? - I used to get so cold and shiver but wasn't sick with the flu. Also try iron rich foods - obviously meat and non meat things like - almonds, apricots, hommous, avocado, figs, miso soup, prunes, potato with skin, oatmeal, sesame seeds, peas in pod, soyabeans. I lost a lot of blood during one of my labours and was anaemic afterwards. I went to the Dr and was taking fefol ( iron and folate I think) and the accupuncturist also spoke to me about diet. But also increase your intake of water and fibre - iron makes you constipated and also turns your stool black. Yikes!
Symptoms include - fatigue, poor concentration, dizziness, reduced recovery from exercise, poor memory.
Dory - hat was from a little boutique store down here called Little Tackers. I've seen some other cute "owl" beanies at Little Illusion (google it - they're based in Tasmania). Otherwise I reckon markets might be a go to find something cute & unique?
Fuzzy - don't go! We all go through patches where we haven't time to reply or do persies - it is ok!
Pretz - I was thinking you sounded too tired, and that I have way more energy than that... then I got a feral head cold - so that showed me lol! Seriously I reckon checking out iron & thyroid is a great idea as both can be a bit dodgy after having bubs.
Vix - I love the name Alannah - was one of my finalists thanks for the comment re your dad. Reminded me we need to do some follow up as the scan confirmed there is one more stone just waitin' in the kidney... DH wasn't too thrilled to hear that! They haven't said he should do anything to avoid them, but I think it's worth double checking!
AFM - trying to get little missie to take a cup today. She only ever takes 30 mls, but starts next month in daycare 1 day/week (was delayed). So today I'm not feeding her until after 5pm & just repeatedly offering her a variety of cups! Wish me luck!!! DH still ok, but not feeling all that great. Oh and I have a great new pic of my little chubba darling
Belfie - feel better soon love - I have the feral head cold too. Thanks for the tips about hats too. Love the pic of A but also the one of X and the puddle and your comment was just so apt. Good luck with the cup. H likes to drink from bowls, not a great look, but it gets the job done. She's just worked out how to blow bubbles back into the water. It's so gorgeous, I can't help but laugh.
Uhm, well bit glum here tonight.... just found out my step dad has bladder cancer. He has an appointment next week with the urologist, and then I suppose the oncologist. I know tragedy doesn't take account of personality, but he is genuinely a really nice bloke. It's a big one too, according to the scans. Hopefully it hasn't metatisised and the treatment is successful. Feeling a bit angry at the universe, tonight. Another night with a heavy heart....
Dory - that is sad news. Is it treatable? I never heard of bladder cancer or what could cause such a horrible thing. *hugs and prayers coming your way*
Belfie - I love your photo. She is devine and I could gobble her up. I don't have aFB account atm so can't show any pics. I do have a photobucket account but find it so painful to use!
Fuzzy - I have no clue what to do re: night feeds at all so can't offer any advice. Maybe offer her water if she wakes up and I guess if after a few nights she decided water is not what she wants, she might just stay asleep...but like I said, no clue here! Hope it does not interfere more with your sleep though. Sleep dep sux!!! lol
Pretz - feel like I am soo cut off from everyone on FB now. Have you been to the doc about being tired etc?
AFM: Alannah was up on a fours last night and on two seperate occaisions, she moved a knee forward!!!!!!!!!!! *happy loopy dance*
Vix - I remember all Alannah's teeth coming through so shortly one after the other! Noah is doing a bit better with his teeth now as tooth #3 cut through this morning FINALLY! Tooth #4 is verrrrrry close too, can feel it right under the skin! How was your 7km round trip walk the other day? I miss you soooo much and on FB - please come back. Hope you are feeling better. I'm thinking of you always! No haven't been to the GP for me yet, will try to get over to see him this week if I can get MIL to look after Noah for me.
Dory - I hope that HB has been better with her teething. Noah finally cut his 3rd tooth this morning, but like I said to Vix he is not far off #4 cutting either. I am cold all the time, my hands and feet feel cold. Could put them in hot water one minute and the next they're cold again. I definitely think I need to go see the GP and get my iron levels checked. I don't think it's a good thing that I have very heavy periods since Noah was born and that they are lasting for so long - I'm on CD6 today and it still feels and seems like CD1 with the heavy bleeding! So sorry to hear about your step dad having bladder cancer.
Belfie - Sorry to hear that you have a head cold. I too have one now and got mine from Noah who got sick earlier this week (see AFM below). How did you go getting DD to take a cup? Any luck? What a gorgeous pic of your little girl!
Fuzzy - Glad to see you in here again, I agree with Belfie that you shouldn't feel the need to leave, just pop in and try to catch up when and if you can. We'd hate to lose you.
Hello to everyone else!
AFM, Noah and I have been sick all week. Slowly starting to feel a bit more human thank goodness. Noah got sick on Monday arvo and was very whingy/clingy and DH and I only got about 2.5 hours of sleep through the night Monday night as Noah would not stop crying. His nose was all blocked up and he kept coughing. On Tuesday arvo he was quite miserable and kept tugging at his ear so I took him to the GP, the GP checked him out and said that he has an ear infection on top of his cold (his first cold) and gave some antibiotics. I also got one of those Vicks Vaporizers and they're just the BEST thing ever! Have been using it day and night for Noah and it seems to have made a HUGE difference! I'm still feeling a bit crappy from my runny nose and body aching, but getting there.
Total sidetrack from me. One of our cats (Frodo) was attacked by a dog today (on our property). Frodos left leg has had to be amputated & vet rates chance of survival at 30%. When the vet went in to do the op, there was more extensive damage than first thought. 4.5 hour surgery. Vet said they were the worst injuries he'd ever seen on a cat still alive. Still many hurdles to overcome if he is to make it. Owner is horrified (builder at nearby building site). Pls wish poor Frodo luck or a painless end.
Belfie - oh sweetie.... that is just so stressful..... your little Frodo is strong.... go gently on yourself during this very anxious time. What does the vet say is the most dangerous time in the recovery? Sending your little fur baby lots of love and cuddles from afar, and some for his mum too.
Well, still recovering here, after a bout of norovirus ( wish I'd been on a cruise ship to get it though). Yikes, that was a completely miserable couple of days. I've never had gastro like that before, where in addition to gastro I had headaches, aches, pains and chills and fevers, and cramping all over (except in my tummy.... weird). I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Just hoping that I haven't given it to DH or HB. Poor HB I was breastfeeding her and had to put her down in the middle of the night to go puke. First time for everything. But you'd think that given her immune system is so immature that she would have come down with it by now? I got it Sunday night and it's now 3pm Tuesday. Well here's hoping she's ok..... it will be an anxious few days from here. OMG I was miserable. I didn't think it was possible to feel that miserable. Its usual to come down with it 12-48 hours after contact, but can take up to 6 days according to a friend of mine who is a dr specialising in infectious diseases. Anyway, DH has been a champion looking after HB and she has been good accepting him as her primary carer the past couple of days. But I miss cuddling her so much! I hate just sitting back and letting DH do everything, and I hate not having any physical contact with HB, but worth it if she doesn't get it. Anyway, thanks for listening to my tale of woe, back to the lounge for me. PML - I have never washed my hands or the toilets this much..... happy days.
Dory -thank you. Tomorrow is D day for decisions. He has so much damage to his remaining right hindleg. Remains to be see if it is viable. Plus numerous other risks. In honour of Frodo, we have paws crossed tonight.
Belfie - Oh that's terrible. I'm so sorry to hear about Frodo! Huge, big 's to you all! How old is he? Please know you're in my thoughts! How is your head cold going? Hope you're feeling better from that at least.
Dory - Sorry to hear about your bout of norovirus! How horrible to have to experience that and not being able to cuddle HB. How sweet that your DH was able to help look after her while you were recovering. I too hope and that she doesn't get it although like you say, chances are she won't seeing as she hadn't by the time you posted!
Hiya to everyone else!
AFM, finally free of AF thank goodness! Lasted another 9 days this month and I was OVER it by day 7! Still sooooo, soooooo tired all the time and still haven't been to see my GP so will try to make a plan to go towards the end of the week or get in to see him early next week... On the bright side, I am thankfully doing better after my bout of a cold although Noah still has a snotty nose and keeps waking at4:30am EVERY morning...
HELLOOOOO!!!!!
Hi girls- remember me (hehe), been such a longtime since I have popped my head in here to say hello and see how you all are and update you on us!
Harlow is FINALLY over this seperationg anxiety....I think.
I have been able to leave the room a couple of times without her screaming blue murder about it! Hopefully this is a change in her because I want my life back, I was my internet life back too haha!!
Pretz- *waves* hi!! I don't know you but welcome! I'm Sandie, i have a 4year old named Jett and a nearly 9 month old girl- Harlow So nice to meet you!! And Noah is such a gorgeous name
Hello to everyoone, You have all updated SO much i don't think i could possibly keep up- I'm hoping I am back now and i am a part of this group again because I really do miss keeping up with how all the babies are growing, i see some on facebook but not sure if I have you all- they are all growing so fast!
Dory- BIG thankyou to you hun, you told me to take 5 minutes out for myself and i have taken your advice and it is helping SO much- especially through Harlows seperation Anxiety, I NEEDED it!!
Belfie- I am so sorry to hear of Frodos passing. I was wondering how he was going yesterday so i was saddened to read how it ended for him today, he is out of any pain now and ads much as it hurts because he was a loved member of the family, i feel that it is the right thing to end any of his pain...I hope that X is ok right now xoxox
Belfie - OMG that is such sad and terrible news. Your poor poor cat. I hope he got some really good scratches on that damn mutt so he never does this again. So sad x
Belfie - I am sorry for your sudden loss of Frodo. He had such a cool name too. I hope you find some peace with the beautiful memories I am sure you have.
Pretz - glad that Noah is feeling better now. I thought Alannah was getting sick the other day but she seems to just have a runny nose for a few mins and then it clears up! Both my boys have had conjunctivitis and throat infetions this week. Gross!!!
Make sure you go to the gp THIS WEEK!!!!! Promise?! xxxxx
Wite - soundslike you have made a ton of progress with sep anxiety! Well done for YOU! *claps hands* :-)
Dory - Oh that sounds horrible! I am glad you are better now. My hands are so dry and the skin is splitting along the nails from a week of two boys have yucky conjunctivitis. I was paranoid Alannah was going to get it. Was there anyhting you could take to help you?
AFM - Still no crawling! Argh! Pretty sure though her first word is 'hello'. :-) She missed her arvo sleep today. DH mustve come home before she fell asleep so she didn't sleep and started calling out to us. So she went from about 11.45am to 7.30pm tonight without a sleep and she was a crazy, crazy, CRAZY baby but not once did she cry! She just went silly. It was pretty funny actually.
I think....we might have more teeth on the way....... because she has started dribbling......mmmmmm..........is that a true sign or just 'one of those things'. My boys droooooooolllleeeddddd like St Bernards but when Alannahs go all 8 teeth in as many weeks, she didn't dribble! *puzzled*
Belfie - So sorry for your loss! You're in my thoughts hun.
Wite - Thanks for the welcome and nice to "meet" you too. Harlow is a gorgeous name too! I too am another Mummy here that thinks she is dealing with a baby with seperation anxiety... How are you dealing with it? I try to leave the room and talking to him but the past few days he just cries and cries and will crawl on over to wherever I am and then clench on to my pants/leg and won't let go.. Hopefully it's just a stage and it will QUICKLY pass!
Hiya Fuzzy!
Vix - Noah seems to still have a bit of a snotty nose. Just when I think he is over it, it starts up again and so does his clingy-ness! Mummy needs a break! lol Sorry to hear your boys have been sick this past week. Hope they're on the mend and that you and lovely Alannahrama don't get sick too. I PROMISE I have a GP appointment for Wednesday this week so will let you know what he says.... Going to my mothers/bubs group on Wednesday morning and dropping Mr Noah off at MIL while I take myself off to see the doc.. lol Awww how gorgeous Alannah says hello! I hear ya on the drooling, Noah is drooling like there's no more fluid left inside him lol so not sure whether there might be tooth #5 or #6 on the way too, can feel them under the gums, but can't look as he closes his mouth or bites my finger lol
Group Question 1 - Do you find your bubs go to sleep easily when you put them in their cots for naps? Noah can be dead tired and I'll put him in bed, but will hear him play with his teddy, kicking the cot, crawling around, now standing up (he just cracked his cot mobile attachment as he was standing up and grabbed for it! lol) and shrieking, squealing, laughing, chatting etc and then when he is dead tired he will whinge for a while and then fall asleep but from when I put him in his cot until he is asleep it can take up to 30 minutes at times.... Anyone else experience this?
Group Question 2 - How does one deal with a baby that is suffering with seperation anxiety? For the past 2 days I can't leave the room and Noah will scream / whinge / cry. I always talk to him when I leave the room, but no, when he can't see me, he screams. He then crawls around to where I am and when he finds me he clenches to my pants/legs and won't let go or stop whinging until I pick him up. I can't even sit on the couch and he wants to climb up on the couch with me... Any tips/ideas please??
AFM, have a very CLINGY baby today and he is getting up to mischief in his bed as I said above. DH is working and I have so much I would LIKE to do but just don't seem to be able to get anything done. Guess tomorrow is another day I can TRY to do it....lol
