Just wondering at what age a child is able to use 'regular' swings? We would like to get DS (9 months at the moment) something for outside and have found something which would be suitable for him as a toddler and it's one of those bright plastic type thingos but am not sure if we will get the use out of it or if we should just go to a regular swing set which has a swing on it that a small child can be strapped into. Our yard isn't that big so we would need to sell the smaller one to make room for a regular swing set in the future.
I think if it's child safe definently!
I got my ds' one around the same age along with sand puts etc and they loved it!
An then the moaning and groaning started cause they wouldn't come back inside lol!
Look up Solvej swings they are an NZ company but make great canvas swings!! my boys love it and it grows with them!! Friend has 1 and her DD loves it as well.
Feeb they are lovely! I saw something similar at the Eumundi Markets and was so tempted to buy one but we don't have anywhere to hang it. We are looking for an outdoor swing set as my parents have offered to buy them for ds for his 1st birthday I'm just not sure if I should get a regular swing set (which are really for older kids) or if I should get a chunky plastic type of thing that is more for toddlers. Considering I have no idea what age kids can play on regular swing sets I just thought I'd ask on here before making a decision.
I actual just bought a normal one but with the toddler attachments itms?
So the seat was like those of the park swings, and the front facing carriage thingy,
I know what you mean. Toyworld has that kind of thing on sale and I think dh's mum gave us an actual baby/toddler seat thingo with a belt on it but again we don't have anywhere to hang it so it's been in the garage ever since! But if we purchased a regular swing set we could just hang the swing on that where the roman rings / trapeze part is. Mind you I think a swing set like that may be too big for our yard... I will have to go out and measure the area tomorrow. hmmm I think the cage swing seat thingo would be ok for DS even at this age, we could kinda hold him in the seat while we swing him
Cherished we've had one since DD was 2 (so before DS). We have a toyworld one and DH bought a chunky lift'n'lock type seat for DS when he came along. I never looked at 'toddler' type outdoor stuff - but if you ever see my DD you'll know why lol. I think DS had his first go at about 6ish months. Fell asleep in it the first time.
We bought the girls are swing set for x-mas so DD1 was 2 and DD2 was nearly 1, it has 2 'normal' swings, a toddler/baby swing, a double swing, a slide and a mini tramp.
Both girls love it, they both sit on the tramp and DD2 loves her own little swing, then as they get older they can have a normal swing each.
I got DD a normal swing set for her first birthday. It came with a toddler swing. From memory it's a hills one. She still uses the toddler swing as she doesn't like the normal swing.
OK I've decided! Thanks for all your help everyone I'm getting a timber swing set. it has one swing (regular type of one) a mini trampoline a slide and a a little fort type thingy which is covered so underneath that could be a small sand pit or a ball pit, we have a ball pit inside and DS loves it! and I have loads more balls so whatever I guess. I'm really excited! going to order it today I think YAY OH and because ds is still little I will hang the baby seat up instead of the regular swing so he can use it straight away
We bought DS2 a chunky swing set and it is brilliant. Even though he is now 4 and too big for the swing, he always uses the slide bit. DD2 & DD3 use the swing all the time. The best thing about it is that on cold or rainy days, we can bring it inside so the kids can still play
