can someone please point me in the right direction.....

ok so i havnt worked in the last financial year so thereform havnt had a income...
well apart from the baby bonus.

i will be claiming back some medical expenses through my accountant though.

plus ill need to update DH's estimate of earnings for this financial year...

what exactly do i have to do???

our FTB ive asked for it to be paid at the end of the financial year, so do they wait for DH to do his tax for this quarter to make sure i havnt underestimated(highly unlikely)and then pay it??

    im so confused!!!

I don't think you can claim anything if you haven't had an income, because you haven't paid tax.
Unless you can claim them against your husbands income?
If you have an accountant I'd start there, otherwise ring the ATO for advice

my DH is self employed so our acctount "pays" me a small amount for book kepping, im not sure of the exact amount under 10k im pretty sure. is that enough to claim my expenses back?

will see my accountant and see what they say!

    thanks!

for the rest do i just to to centerlink?

Your medical expenses will most likely be added to your DH's return as the medical expenses offset is for combined family expenses. If you aren't paying any tax, you don't get anything back for medical expenses, so better off in your DH's return anyway. Your accountant should be able to sort all that out for you. As far as Centrelink goes, I *believe* that they don't do anything until both of your returns are lodged. Someone else may be able to confirm this!

    Hi Crumpet

Medical expenses (I am guessing you mean the 20% rebate on out of pockets) are a rebate rather than a deduction so it doesn't matter who claims them but make sure that one of you does. I do the tax returns for DH and I so I tend to claim the medical on whoevers I get together and lodge first because then I have the $$ faster

FTB - I'm pretty sure that it is once you have both submitted your tax returns.
