I'm trying to get a bumbo for DD but just wondering if others that have used them recommend them! I'm just wondering if they are worth the $100 they are here locally.
$100!!! crikey. i think we paid about $65 for ours from the baby shop? Try ebay, people sell them on there, and they last for ages, I got one for DD1 as a baby and its still going strong. They only really use it for a little while, then it goes in the cupboard.
However, all my kids still fit in it (even the 4.5 year old) so mine gets put away cos they fight over it otherwise.
I would say not worth $100 but if you can get one second hand for $20-$30 they are alright.
We used ours from about 10-12 weeks and stuck the baby in it in the middle of the table while we were eating tea (big table, both there etc...). Allowed us to eat our tea because they weren't happy being shoved out of the way, they wanted to be included.
Didn't really use it much on the ground, they preferred to be held and were early sitters anyway.
I have looked on ebay but the postage is the killer (we are in a rural area) then I can get a new one online for $55 but then I have to have it posted which bumps the cost up and thats without the tray. I went to our one and only baby shop and they are $99.99 there including the tray. I thought it was steep compared to others prices.
We borrowed one from a friend for both kids was great we used it lots, DS1 would still sit in it until we returned it to friends after DS2 non longer needed it, but $100 is way to much look on eBay or ask around friends,
I used mine for almost 2 years with DD1 and about 12 months for DD2 - it was a lifesaver and well worth it in my opinion! However, some babies don't like it and some don't fit into them properly. See if you can try one before you buy. Also they do hold their value well so if you do get one you will always be able to sell it again on eBay!
We only paid $56 for ours brand new, but went halves with SIL so we share it between the families but have never both needed it at the same time, we got it from a big baby store, but they aren't in QLD, $100 is ridiculous, maybe you can see if they will price match?
Also look on Gum Tree, someone may be selling one locally, that you can pick up.
$100 with tray isn't too bad considering your location. I love our one, DD used it for each meal for about 3-4 months as she was too little for our highchair. Also they have good re-sale value.
I loved my Bumbo! I used it from about 4mths on and she had her first foods in it. I also purchased the tray that goes with to make it alot more useable.
I know your not supposed to do this, while she was little and not fidgety, I put mine on the bench while I was cooking dinner and she would play with things on the attached table. She also ate her dinner here as well.
Used it right up to around 12mths. They are easy to clean.
I got mine from Baby Bunting when they had a sale on..purchased Bumbo and attachable table for $79.95.
I just gave mine away.
Same here Heather, purchased with try from Baby Bunting for $80 I personally do not think $100 is justified. We used ours only for a month or two and never used the tray for foods etc as we had a high chair. You can find them on Ebay second hand or if you know someone in your area who has one maybe you can borrow it. I lent mine to a friend as her son as a bit behind in the sitting dept and after 3-4 weeks he was sitting fine.
Check online baby shops and shop around, I think Baby Bunting does deliveries but for one product it will take you back up around the $100 mark. Surely you'll be able to get one at a better price x
I love the Bumbo and would have paid $100 for it if I had to. DD2 loves been where ever I am and when DH went away for a few weeks it was my saviour because DD2 could sit anywhere I was and was happy. She still loves it. When I bought it DD1 was mid Toilet training and thought it was another potty
Thanks for your replies. I ended up buying one with a tray today online from babies galore for $85 which included postage. Now I just have to sit back and wait for the items to arrive. I did look on ebay but they were brining new prices anyway and alot of them were pick up only and none were within 200kms from me. If DD doesn't like it I will sell it again. Thanks for your replies
I was just about to say, if you can try your DD in it before you buy it then I'd advise that. My DD hated hers. She was a reflux baby and every time she sat in the bumbo she'd spew. I'll also add that she worked out how to pop herself out of it very quickly, so whilst some people put them on work surfaces and high areas, it was just way to dangerous for us to do that.
But we had no trouble selling it so it's not a total loss

Not sure I'm qualified to answer as we didn't end up getting one. By the time we had thought about getting one ds was already way too much of a wiggle monster to have sat in it for longer than 2 minutes! we never even get through a meal with him in his high chair. So I guess it depends on what your baby is like as to whether they are worth it. I also sat ds in one at a friends house and he cracked it when I was getting him out of it as they are a pretty tight fit!
