Getting help/assistance through centerlink without kids birth certificates?

If someone needs urgent assistance, is on the books but only claims at tax time is there any help while waiting for all the ID requirements? Or are they pretty much stuffed?

I am fairly sure Centrelink do offer alternative ID requirements, but you'd have to contact them.

depends on the type of help. you generally only have to prove birth once for ftb purposes
