    Best foods for empty stomach

DD1 has been throwing up since 5am. She is her usual happy cheery self, has no temp and wants to eat and drink. I have given her some plain toast and warmish water but she threw them back up.

Just wondering what foods would you try?

I would stick with dry foods, dry toast maybe with a bit of jam (no butter), dry plain biscuits, saladas, rice cakes?

We just stick with toast or dry biscuits and as they start feeling better I usually make a basic brothy soup with vegies in it for them. We give them Hydrolite icypoles as well to rehydrate when they can't keep anything including water down. Poor darling - hope she is better soon xox

Thanks ladies. We took her to the dr and she has Gastritis (thankfully not gastroenteritis - could not handle both ends). So it is 30ml hydralite every 20 minutes for 24hours. I just know with my weak immune system I will get it too. Hopefully it spares DD2 and DH.

    Thanks again.

I have another question for you lovely ladies if you don'e mind. DD1 is still not well, she can't keep anything we have tried to give her down even after the 24hours of no food. Everything comes back up a few hours later. She is still drinking water or hydralite so she is not dehydrated but she has zero energy now and is just sleeping. I know this is probably good as it will give her a chance to get better.

What I would like to know is there something I can give her to (trying to think of right words but failing) kickstart her stomach again? I am thinking of something along the lines of yakult.

Poor darling. Keeping her fluids up is really important but given that she still won't eat I would be going back to the Dr. I use THESE fact sheets on the RCH site all the time and it says not to restrict food for more than 24 hours ( I know she is restricting but still!) given that it has been 3 days and she still can't keep anything down I would go back and see what they recommend. I would think any dairy type food like Yakult wouldn't be good for her tummy hun, I would be more inclined to do a brothy vegie soup and get the fluid in even if the vegies don't and some toast or something like that. Is she asking for anything? They are pretty good self-regulators but seeing as it as been so long I would go get her checked again.

Thanks Tanstar. I am giving the soup a try. She is asking for bickies, I gave her some Salada's yesterday but they came back up. I gave her a couple this afternoon and so far they have stayed down but she has just started asking for cuddles which is her way of showing she is feeling sick in the tummy. I guess it is a wait and see and keep the fluids into her. I will go back to the Dr in the morning I think.
I was thinking that the dairy (Yakult was not the best option but I was just wondering if there was something like a pro biotic. I guess fluids is the most important. Thanks for the link too

Thanks Olive. I went and got some for DD to take. She thinks it is great having 'Medicine' every day.
