Is it possible to get a BFP after AF-like cramps?

I actually feel a bit silly writing this - I'm so sure AF is coming. I've even got the tampons ready to go! But with that in mind, I'm wondering if my AF signs "could" be something else.

We've been TTC #3 since Jan '11. My cycles are long, possibly anovulatory. Dr put me on Clomid 50mg and I'm now on CD34 of my first Clomid cycle. A blood test on C21 indicated an extremely low progesterone level, indicating I didn't O.

On about CD 25-26 I noticed a reasonable amount of CM. We DTD, cos even though I didn't think O was going to happen, I thought "why not". Of course hubby didn't take much persuading.

Last night I had relatively mild-medium AF-like cramping (which I only have occasionally). The night before I had mild back pain. All this would usually indicate I would have had AF overnight (as in last night). Whenever I've had cramping like that before it's accompanied the immediate arrival of AF. I've had just a tiny bit of spotting first thing this morning. And nothing since. Usually when I have spotting before AF it's there when I go to the loo and gets worse, turning into AF.

Now logic tells me AF is on the way - cos that's what I've come to expect with this latest experience with TTC. I'm certainly not talking myself into a BFP cos I know all too well that it probably isn't going to happen.

But ... I can't help but wonder. And I don't want to test - mainly because I don't want to "waste" a test. I've done that once or twice before only to have AF turn up within a day or two.

Has anyone got a BFP after experiencing cramps and spotting. I certainly had spotting with my last two pregnancies (definite implantation bleed with DS1 and period-like spotting with DS2). I recall mild cramps with DS1, and possibly DS2 but I didn't know I was pregnant until after 6 weeks so I didn't recognise them as anything but potential AF cramps.

Ugh. This TTC journey of mine is becomming tedious.

Someone tell me I'm barking up the wrong tree and to go eat some chocolate while I wait for AF to arrive! I'm hopeful we'll get our BFP at some point ... but with no obvious sign of me Oing on Clomid, it's unlikely to be this month.

I'll go eat my chocolate now will I wait for AF to come visit

I got AF type feelings with both pregnancies leading up to my BFPs. Good luck!

PS spotting for a few days before my BFP when PG with DD but no spotting at all this time.

hhhhmmm im going to say go and eat your chocolate (lets face it there is never a bad time to do that lol) & maybe test in 2 or 3 days if you can hold out. if the spotting was implantation it should show on a test in a couple of days

CD34 is getting long for a clomid cycle, I used to have a 32 day cycle on clomid, and I thought that was long! Are they upping your dose of clomid if it doesn't work again?

MM - Thank you! You show great wisdom Definitely no testing ... I liken pg testing to washing your car (or watering your garden) - rain arrives within 24 hours!!

Tasha - Definitely too long for it to be clomid, if indeed I did O I don't think it was the clomid that helped. Still very much in doubt about the fact I Od but all will be revealed in the next day or two I guess. My clomid dose will go to 100mg once AF arrives (cos she WILL arrive).

    Eat some chocolate

But I will say, my bestie was told she had practically no chance of falling pregnant and that she wasn't ovulating, to find out she was utd...

    Sigh, if you insist UA

Man, I wish AF would arrive. At least then when DH asks "where's all the chocolate gone" I can honestly say "AF made me do it!!!"

AndiE you can totally get AF cramps and a BFP... I am a case in point! Apparently it's quite common. I'm 9 weeks with my first after TCC for over a year and a half and my cramps started before AF was due and lasted consistently for about 3 weeks after my BFP and still now off and on but quite dull. Initially they felt EXACTLY like my pre-AF cramps so was comforting myself and trying to prepare for AF- not knowing she would not come!

Hi Ladylove - congrats on your pg! I think the chances of me being pg are very, very (... very) small. It's just that my body is not behaving quite like it usually does when AF is imminent. It's causing me to be a bit confuddled. I'm hopeful ... but waaay too realistic to think this "is" what I'd like it to be.

Dammit. I've run out of chocolate. Anyone have a bar or three that I can borrow?

UA - um, all of the above? hee hee.

The spotting is starting to become a bit more consistent, so I'm definitely thinking it's AF. Which is fine. Much better I know than be stuck in the "twilight zone".

More than happy to share.... but if the parcel is empty when it gets to you, I swear the postie took them all

I agree though, knowing is better than being stuck wondering - I only took the POAS with this pregnancy so I would get AF because we really weren't expecting or even trying, and I took it before AF was due!
