    11 weeks & bleeding!!

What a day!! Woke up & went to the toilet. There was blood bright red on the toilet paper, there was bright blood in the toilet. I went straight to a very well known women's hospital in Melbourne. My OB is away at a conference & stupid didn't even think about he would have a cover!!!! Why I don't know!!
They were not helpful did a urine test that showed protien & the largest amount of bld that is detectable on a urinalysis. They wouldn't even attempt to see if the baby had heart "because I'm under 13 weeks" & told me no scans available till Tuesday afternoon. Examined me said my cervix is closed, thanks for coming & sent me home with no answers & stated even if I was miscarry nothing much they could do. Upset & anxious I went home & called the hospital I'm booked into which doesn't have an emergency dept. They were fantastic contacted the covering Dr & he rang me straight back scan in the morning & he will examine me. I'm so scared, we have tried for three years & our last cycle was exactly that our last cycle. So we were sooooo lucky to have fallen pregnant! I will go to bed praying. Anyone else had bleeding that the dr couldn't work out where you were bleeding?? If not both vaginal & urine. Covering Dr ?? Uterine??

I'm so sorry you have had this scare. Lots of women bleed in pregnancy and carry healthy babies to term so this need not be the end. Your cervix being closed is an excellent sign though that this may be a small placental bleed and not a miscarriage. Hopefully your scan tomorrow will put your mind at rest but in the meantime put your feet up and try not to worry, impossible though that may be

Oh hun How terrifying. I truly hope that your scan reveals a healthy, flickering heartbeat. I hope there is a simple and non-sinister reason for the bleeding. I am also sorry to hear that you were not treated with more respect and compassion.
I will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Im sorry youve had this scare. Bleeding doesnt always mean m/c, but I know exactly how scared you feel right now. I cant believe the hospital wouldnt give you a scan to put your mind at ease.

Goodluck for your scan tomorrow, I hope everything turns out well.

Oh my gosh. Which hospital did you initially go to? sounds awful.

I don't know much about bleeding that early, but I do know that a good friend had a huge amount of bleeding on one occasion in the 2nd tri, and raced to hospital in an ambulance, and everything was fine, and the baby arrived one week early also perfectly fine ... they called it a "threatened miscarriage" but she didn't have to do anything in particular, just keep an eye on things, and go back if there was pain or more severe bleeding etc.

for you and your bundle that it's all ok.

I am so sorry your going through this. I have bleed around that time- only light spotting and it turned out to be a mc. BUT my friend (she's on here, her name is blessedatlast) had 2 massive bleeds and she's still pregnant- it turned out she has placenta previa (sp??) There are heaps of women on here that bleed alot and have healthy bubbas. I so hope your little bub is ok.
    Lots of love xxxxxxxxx

I have had heavy bleeding in 2 of my pregnancies. With my first it was at 8 weeks and it was after DTD, I had only recently had a D&C so I attributed it to that. Didn't bleed again.

With this pregnancy I had a bleed at 13 weeks, was bright red blood and I bled on and off for a couple of hours. Happened on a weekend of course so couldn't get the scan til Monday, I found out I have a low lying placenta not covering the cervix but close to it. Since then I have stopped hanging clothes on the line and making beds trying not to lift anything too heavy either.

I will be thinking of you tomorrow, I really hope your little bub is OK.

So sorry you were treated this way - same thing happened to my cousin with both her pg, but at another public hospital :-( She has has early and late bleeding during pg & they couldn't work out where it was coming from. She actually had such a huge bleed, she thought she'd lost bubs but has gone on to have two healthy children.

Keep an eye on the bleeding, if it gets worse/heavier and is followed by cramping, call the OB on call again. ((hugs))

Oh that's awful, I totally understand your distress. As Yas said I am now 14wks and had 2 HUGE bleeds (clots and all, sorry TMI) at 10wks and again at 12wks.. Hospital couldn't care less because you are, as you said under 13wks. I didn't waste my time even going to the hospital, What I did was go to a medical centre and get a referral for an U/S, and just went there and sat and waited.. It is so so awful. And it always happened on the weekend Maybe you could try that tomorrow. It's still a day earlier than Tuesday! I really hope you get your scan and see that beautiful heart beat.. Good luck.

Thanks everyone, my husband is away for work & I haven't really told anyone I'm pregnant yet so I couldn't really talk to anyone about it. I know if you've seen a heartbeat between 7-11 weeks 90% of bleeds turn out to be ok. So I'm hoping I fall into that category. Fingers crossed & thanks for the support x

Sweety, just saw your thread and understand your worry. I was a bleeder unfortunately, I believe twice during this pregnancy but as you can see all is well with my bubkins. In the end mine was unexplained...and as the other girls said fantastic your cervix is shut tight. Hope everything will be okay and as you said the more weeks you are pregnant, the chances of m/c decrease. Big hugs.x

Thanks everyone for the great support. Thankfully everything is fine & our lil baby is very active & well. They are unsure of why I bleed but all seems fine. Dr Ashton who is covering for my Dr was lovely & very understanding. I feel better today but exhausted so I'm having a couch day!
