We have recently started toilet training our 2 1/2 year old DS. It started by accident - he wanted to sit on the toilet, and then I suggested he wear jocks and he thought it was a good idea. But, after the first afternoon (when we had no successes) it has been going really well so we have persevered. We're 3 weeks in now and hardly ever have a wee accident, and he has even dropped his night time nappy (again, by choice).
However, we're having no success with poos. He knows when he does it, as he often tells me after the fact, but he is happy to just go in his jocks. It's not that he's scared of the potty. If I catch him in time and sit him on the potty, he will poo in it, he just doesn't seem to think of this option himself.
We've tried sitting him on the potty in front of the TV if it's been a day or two without a poo, but no luck. A couple of days ago I put a big toy 'door' in front of the potty for him to play with, and that seems to have had a bit more success, but we still had an accident this morning.
Any suggestions? Thanks

No suggestions sorry, we are having similar toruble with DS.. he has been a slow TT, over along time. He has wee's down pat, no worries there. Night time nappy can be gone, but we had a few accidents, so i have been putting it back on. But poo... he asks for a nappy. Which is even more frustrating. He knows when he has to do it, he comes and asks for the nappy, i suggest the toilet, i get told very sadly, no mummy, i want a nappy. Its very frustrating!!!!!!!
It's pretty normal so I wouldn't try and push it. We began TT in January and its only been the last 2 weeks that DD has been doing poos on the toilet!! She used to always wait until she had a nappy on for bed time and even if I knew she was going to poo and tried to take her to the toilet she would freak out so I just let her do her own thing. It can be pretty frustrating especiall when they are doing so well with weeing on the toilet but he will get there!
