    Worst. Cough. Ever!

My daughter is 3.5 and about a month ago has a bad throat infection with a fever, cough and the rest. Since then she has had a cough that just won't go away. We have been back to the Doc since that told us it will probably hang around for a while and there is nothing much she can give us to clear it up. When she had her throat infection and for a few weeks after it sounded like a dry cough sometimes and other times you could hear her bringing mucus up. It has finally started to ease off a LITTLE this week and now she has picked up a cold and it is a MILLION times worse. It sounds pretty much dry all the time now and I am not exaggerating, she doesn't go even 10 seconds through the whole day (or night!) without coughing!
I feel so sorry for her, and for everyone else too because nobody in the house is getting much sleep. She also hasn't been able to eat much at meal times as she is coughing so much she just brings the food back up. I purchased some Duro-Tuss at the chemist today and I am trying to keep her belly full but giving her warm milk but does anyone else have any suggestions?
Last time she had a bad cough we were prescribed some very strong medicine called RediPred but I have even tried that this time to no avail...

See if you can get a referral to get her oesophagus checked?

Sometimes the oesophagus can get scarred when your sick, they stick a camera down to check, so not fun, but would rule out some things (like the big C)

ETA: the Gastrolyte popsicles might be a good idea too

I saw these things at the chemist and they were lollipops that were natural cough suppressants. I don't know if they are any good as we haven't tried them, but it might be a nice treat for your DD and the sucking would certainly help give her a break from the constant coughing. :hugs: for you and your DD. It is so heartbreaking to hear them cough........
