looking for advice...Trip to USA, how many nights?
DH and i want to go over next year for our 10 wedding anniversary..
we're looking at 3 nights in california (disneyland etc)
3 nights in Las Vegas
3 night in hawaii
That actually sounds pretty rushed to me, especially for the LA side of things. If you just want to do Disneyland, then OK but there is so much more to see. Also, you are going to completely flip your body time-wise, and so you could get some major jetlag in there and with only limited time that could spoil things a bit. To be honest I wouldn't be going for less than 5 nights in LA if you can stretch that far.
Three nights in Vegas is ok. Hawaii would be a nice way to break your trip on the way home and 3 nights will be fine. Of course, 3 weeks in a tropical paradise would be good too ;-)
I'd do it a little different too. We holiday in the US every two years and Las Vegas was (pre-DS) our must do everytrip destination. BUT you either love it or hate it. We are not big gamblers but there is so much else to do I don't think it's worth doing for any less than 5 nights. So many shows to see, casinos to just walk through, great places to eat, exhibits to go through and just walking up and down the strip. If you need any advice on where hotels etc. are located feel free to PM me as it's such a loooooong strip and some hotels aren't worth staying at if you don't have transport. Also happy, happy, happy to answer any of your other Las Vegas questions although we are not club people so can't help in that area.
Oh yeah - We didn't enjoy LA at all so 3 full days for Disneyland and California Adventure park would be perfect. Also Universal studios is another option too.
Hawaii - if you are just staying in Waikiki 3 nights would be fine. If you are going to Maui etc. you would need more nights.
I dont think you need more than 3 nights in Vegas. It's just a bunch of casinos. We stopped over on our honeymoon (it's DH's favorite place) for 2 nights. We arrived in the evening, did a helicopter tour to the canyon and saw Tom Jones the next day, spent the next day shopping and wondering around & gambling before flying to Fiji that evening. Another night would have been fine.
I've not been to LA so cant advise. Are you going to Disneyland without the girls? DH just said if you want to go to Universal studios and Disneyland, stay in Orange County. Downtown LA is a hole.
Personally, I'd want more time in Hawaii but it depends on what you want to do and what island you want to stay on.
Completely get that Olive. If you're going kid-less that takes a lot of stress off you for dealing with jet lag etc. A whole lot easier dealing with a grumpy, sleep deprived DH than it is a grumpy sleep deprived DD!!
