Urgh! Can I delete the last week please?

Dd is sick. She is tired and grumpy and has become very aggressive. She has always been such a kind gentle child, but in the last week she has started lashing out and hitting us, throwing things, and the meltdowns have been extreme!

Today I fed the baby to sleep on my bed and crept out only to have dd run in and start slapping him on the face to wake him up . She hasn't hit him before and I almost cried. Wtf?

I know it's attention seeking and I spent all day playing with her but it made no difference. She basically screamed herself to sleep in my bed because I wouldn't give her juice.

I'm getting her cold and feel like crap. Poor ds cried a lot today because I was so busy dealing with dd.

How do I move through this?

I saw you post in my thread hun - I too am hoping and praying it is just a phase and am really trying hard to stay calm with my monster man right now. It is so tough when they go from the most gorgeous kids to a terror overnight. I know it's developmental and I keep reading that the biting is a phase, and just need to keep on top of it all and make sure I don't have parent tantrums on top of the ones the kids are having. I read a blog called the parenting passageway there are some great articles on there that have helped ground me and refocus as well when things are awful here.

Heres hoping that the "terrible 2's" turn into "terrific 2s for both of us very soon

Yep another one here with 2 yo going nuts. She likes to put her hand over P's mouth and nose until she can't breathe If you have a portacot it might help to put that up and use it as a time out area for DD (providing she can't climb out of it of course). We are also sick so that doesn't help matters at all. to you hun.

I had a similar week with dd2, she has an ear infection and we all paid for it. She is still learning to communicate with us it took me a few days of crankiness to work out what it was then we had tantrums over taking her medicine, napping you name it she wasn't happy. She has turned the corner today, and has been very loving but it's been a battle.

DS went through a similar stage for a month or so after DD arrived. it didn't start right away, proably from around 6 weeks or so... He also ran in and hit her once when she was sleeping. i was livid.
He has slowly learnt to not 'errupt' us when DD was sleepig. it's still hit and miss but getting beter. I sure hope things can settle down again for you soon.
It's always extra hard when they're sick, never mind if you're feeling awful too! Hope you're feeling ok

Thanks everyone for the replies. Dd is back to normal it seems and yesterday we had a great day. She is still lashing out a bit, but we had a chat about it hurting etc and she has reduced her aggression and is mainly hitting pillows (lol that was my alternative for her).

    Thanks again.
