I posted I think in here, or somewhere on the boards, a long time ago about wanting to do sewing classes, as I had a machine but didn't even know how to turn it on. Anyway, I found a great sewing school in Bentleigh, and was on the waiting list for around a year (she has over 200 people waiting for spots), but it was Ok as I didn't have regular childcare anyway. But this year my little ones are both of the house every day (full time kindy & prep), and I started sewing lessons!

I've found it so great - I've already made 2 skirts (I could have been faster but I have been altering the patterns and making them more complicated), and have learnt most of the basics, which is great.

There are 6 in the classes, all different levels, all working on their own thing (she obviously gives more help to the beginners and for the first block steps you through everything). She runs them in 4 week blocks (i.e. introduction to sewing runs for 4 classes, then you move onto the next block), and they are $175 per block (I think the first might be $10 extra to cover materials & book). Runs for 2.5hrs (I do mine daytime 11.30am - 2.00pm). She also has evening & weekend classes but they are very full. You basically re-enroll into the next block unless you tell her otherwise. They only run during school terms, and if you miss a class you can make it up on a different day if she has a spare spot (she normally does).

I've found it not only such a great skill to have (oh, I also made my DD a princess costume!), but it's the first time since having DS almost 6 years ago that I'm really taking time out for myself to enjoy something (that's not gym), and it has been a really good break.

Anyway, main reason why I am posting this is I am moving from the Monday to the Wed class as of next week, and there is a spare spot also available. I had a friend who wanted to join, and she said they could skip the queue and join with me, but they pulled out, so I thought I would tell you guys incase anyone else wanted the spot?
