    HELP - I cannot decide.

I have $650 roughly left of my tax return. That money could do LOTS of things, I could get my hair done professionally (first time in years) I could buy clothes ... all sorts of stuff.

I was looking at a particular corner in my living room this morning and thought "I am so SICK of looking at this"

Its UGLY, we have this dodgy old upright unit that is too small for the tv, we have DVDs piled on the floor, we have MIL's mini phone stand with extremely old "world books" and some of my trinkety thing.

Its yuk and I feel it lets the room down.

I have hated this corner for 6 years, which I think is a very long time to dislike something.

Everytime we have had some spare funds its always gone into something else. Anyways, the moral of the story through all my waffling is that I have seen a TV unit that I think would look quite nice in this horrid space.

It will use the last of my tax money but its something that should last us years ........

I am so torn as I still need some more "screening plants" for our backyard amongst other things.

HELP ME PLEASE, what would you do??

I say buy the unit or find one you love that means you will have a little left over and use the rest to buy the plants or treat yourself to a new top etc

I'm with Babyluv, buy the unit and the rest you'll be able to do anyway, eventually

Also agree with buying the unit. I know what it is like to have something in the house that you hate. Makes a big difference when it gets changed. I think larger amounts of money are best spent on bigger things, otherwise it is so easy for it to disappear on the little things and then you are left with not much to show for it.

i just commented on your fb, but thought i'd post again anyhow i think you should get it. it's such a long time to have lived with something you hate. we had some 2nd hand dining chairs for 2 years & i hated them - made the whole room look off & they were 70's types that were covered in what looked like carpet. anyways, a friend of mine recently helped us re-cover them & now i love them! and i like the room a whole lot better. i'm probably very superficial, but it did help my happiness!

is there any chance you could find the same unit on ebay? that's what we did with the cot for DS that i loved but didn't want to pay full price.

Thanks Ladies, I am going to go across to Leongatha and have a look at them in person. SLoane I have seen similar ones on ebay but once you get the delivery fees on top it makes them just as exxy. Will see. I have transfered just a little bit for a deposit so if I decide when I get there I can always pop to the bank and get the rest.

Buy the unit but look around on ebay and gumtree first to see if you can pick up a second-hand one that you like cheaper.

I'd definitely get the TV unit, I know how fixated I get when there is something in my house/yard I hate! It's all I can focus on

I did it .... I got the unit. Dh was disappointed a little and said "well what about your hair" and I said "looks like it will be long and black for a while yet"

He asked how much it would cost to get my hair done and I said $250 (this is the works, T section foils, colour and cut and style from the Artistic director).

I feel glad that we will FINALLY get to tidy up the living room and get something nice in the horrible spot BUT I feel sad for all the things I will now miss out on as its been soooo long since I have really treated myself. Maybe once this baby comes as if I can get away for 3-4 hours.

So I have a layby for DD cubby, a layby for my chook house, 17 new plants and a tv unit. Thank you Mr Tax Man

So glad that you found one and got to spend your tax return (very jealous, as mine will be topping up the bill account to where is should be, I have bought some books though )

Bit late to the party here, but I just bought 20 screening plants off ebay for $55 including postage, you don't *need* to pay $10 a plant. Pittosporum silver sheen, was expecting tiny plants but they were actually pretty big. Now if only they'd grow faster!
