Here i am again in need of your helpful suggestions. Where in Melbourne i can find a huge range of diaper bags? Plus you can also suggest me which diaper bag you find more stylish and roomy. Thanks in advance.
Sorry I'm not in Melbourne but I bought my nappy bag from Priceline and it was only $20. Nice and soft and very pretty and fits everything in that I need (for 2 kids sometimes)

i got a bowling bag style (lots of compartments, zippered wide parts that you open up. Instead of big cavernous spaces, each compartment was divided into pockets etc. So you open the zip and you can SEE what you have there, instead of having to search. Mine was at Target, for around $60 (that was in 2007 though). Before that i had a backpack style nappy bag, that was hopeless. I would have to use two hands (when out, you need one hand on wriggly baby), and usually had to empty entire bag, to find the one things i needed at the time.
different bags work for different people. work out what your needs are (dealbreakers) before you go shopping.
- do you need insulated bits to hold bottles?
- do you need the kind of bag that can be washed, or just wiped out?
- do you need it for short trips, or all day?
- do the straps easily go over your shoulders, avoid straps that are too short, harder to get them over the pram handles. But when bub is a nb, the nappy bag can easily weigh more than they do, so it is suggested NOT to put nappy bag on pram, when baby is tiny, cos that means pram could TIP OVER very easily. Putting that here as a safety thing, scared the heck out of me, when my bub's pram crashed over, due to weight of the nappy bag. This was before i found out it was a safety hazard, at her age.
- does carrying the bag, leave you with free hands?
- are the closures user friendly?
- insert "whatever is important to you"
- are you using public transport or your car (i wouldn't buy a light coloured one for public transport)
- tiny toothed zips bust easy. chunkier zips stand up to alot more use. i LOVED magnetic clasps (open and close one handed). i also liked the bowling bag that had two zip tags wherever there was a zip. so you could open from two directions.
You can spend from $20 to $400 on a nappy bag. You use them so much, makes a big diff when you find one that suits you and your lifestyle. i only worked out what i really needed in a nappy bag, by using one first, that was completely hopeless, it taught me what NOT to buy the next time.
I have amessenger bag which I am not a fan of - too narrow.
I now plan on using it for going out to nice places only as it just cannot hold everything I need for an outing to the shops. In the meantime, until I find a bag I actually like, I am using a puma gym bag that ihave bought diaper insert for from eBay for $3. It means there are 8 compartments in this bag now so everything is a lot more easier to find and grab.
Heya, I got mine from eBay and love it! The lady I got it from goes by 'wynnie walrus' and also I think she now has a websiteunder the same name and also sells on face book. I highly recommend u take a look!! Xo
Good luck - I'm on my 6th nappy bag and still haven't found the "perfect" one. I've spent a damn fortune on nappy bags. I am currently just using a tote bag and I keep a back up bag of clothes in the boot of my car so I can carry less with me when ducking in and out of the shops.
