Removing blood from clothing

DD just wore her brand new parka for the 3rd time and has bled on it (She has a habit of picking the quick around her nails and she made a finger bleed). Does anyone know a way to get rid of the little drops that are on the parka?

I normally just use some nappy san, wet it a little, rub on some nappy san leave it for a couple of minutes then throw it in a cold wash with extra nappy san thrown in
I normally do it as soon as i notice the blood
