    The wheat belt, WA?

I was told thats what it was called

We are considering going from East side, to West side!

My brother & SIL live pretty much right in the middle of Perth & Esperence. DH headed over there today to start a job on Monday.

We are considering following early in the new year if it all works out for him.

Mum looked into the school for us & other services, I'm just wondering if there's anyone else in the area & what its like?

Its a long way to go when you know nothing about a place!!

What towns are you looking at? My husband grew up/inlaws still live in a town down that way (closer to Albany than Perth).

Bro is in Newdegate. DH's job is there & bro is trying to buy a business there, so its a long term thing
They've been there for about 3 years. They don't like being so far from everyone, but the money is way better & better conditions to anywhere else they've been.

Mum & dad are considering it too, but mum doesn't want to leave me on my own here with the kids, so waiting to see what we do.

Ah its 2hrs or so away from my inlaws

Well as an outsider to that area and having family there I can say that its what you make it. We lived in Katanning for awhile when we first married while Dh looked for a job in Perth and I didnt find it too bad. The worst thing for me was that half the town were related to or closely knew my inlaws/Dh so I felt 'watched' almost, not something Im used to being from 'the city'. But probably not an issue for you.

There is some great stuff to do down that way, Albany's a few hours drive away (I always told DH I could happily live there lol) and Perth is only a few hours north. Esperance is a few more hours south, and really lovely. Lovely countryside, clean air.

I say if its a good move financially for your family and job wise for your DH, do it. Especially if you have someone over there that you know.

Thats what I'm used too... everyone thinking they know what colour undies you're wearing!

The only thing that was holding me back was the kids, but I think 4 - 5 months is enough time to do the assessments & paed appointments we need here, then we'll sort the rest out there.

I think it'll be good. I have a few other personal things holding me back, but I'm trying to get past them.

Just waiting to see what DH thinks

Ah, southern wheatbelt. I grew up in Dalwallinu, which is north-east of Perth, usually known as central wheatbelt. Most towns in the area are small and close knit, but can be hard to get to know people in if you're new - be patient and friendly and you'll get there, but don't expect it overnight. If you're running a business or a regular in town it might be a bit easier, I do know it took a while for my mum when we moved because we were on a farming property just out of town and only really went into town every few days or so.

Having family there already will help, and it sounds like a good move for you
