Ok, it's been ages since I've had a baby in nappies and can't remember for the life of me what I wound up using out of the assorted paraphernalia in my nappy bag. So in the interests of refreshing my memory and assisting with the selection of said nappy bag (wow the range has improved remarkably in the last 9 years!) I figured I'd ask the experts to fess up - what's in the bag right now?
5 nappies, a change of clothes. Nappy Saks, wipes, some nappy cream and cotton balls and that is it.
I have a GR8X nappy bag that folds out like a change mat, so that saves on having to worry about going to baby change rooms that are not too clean. I fold it out on their change table and she or I do not have to touch the change table. I also can fold it out anywhere, so if I am somewhere that doesn't have a baby change, I just find the nearest flat surface
I have nappies, wipes, a water bottle (for him) snacks (for him) a couple of snacks (for me) a flat flannel nappy for covering icky change tables (replace after use) a jumper, a change of clothes and a couple of bibs. Oh, and a book and a couple of little toys.
For a newborn, I think I had nappies, wipes, the cover for the change table and change of clothes. Plus a couple of muesli bars for me, and breast pads, surfboard pads.
My nappy bag has taken over from my handbag, so I've got loads in mine lol. But for bubs I have:
- Two nappies
- Travel pack of wipes
- Wet bag
- Bib
- Change of clothes
- Toy
- Wrap
- It's got a 'built-in' change mat too, very handy!
That's for short trips, for longer trips I'll take more nappies and clothes. Depending what I'm wearing and where I'm going, maybe an extra top for me too.
-Mini pack of wipes (takes up FAR less space!)
-3 to 5 nappies
-Nappy sacks
-Change of outfit
-A warm wrap/blanket
-Beanie
-A couple of flannels
-Nipple shield
-Bib
-Infacol
-Fess
-Dummy
-Wallet
-Keys
-Lip balm
-Change mat that goes in the back of the bag
-Blue book
-Antibacterial wipes
Zip bag with spare clothes
Zip bag with facewasher, bib and spoon
Drawstring bag with 4 or 5 toys
Baby carrier in drawstring bag
Sunhat, warm hat
Nappy wallet with 3 nappies, 2 wetbags, cloth wipes, wipes lotion, hand sanitiser, two liners and a snappi
Bobby pins, ventolin, lip balm, herbal tea bags
Drink bottle
(when she was littler - 2 x dummies and a muzzy wrap)
Then when I walk out the door I just throw in keys, purse, phone, blankie, sunnies and we're good!
I'm awful, I don't tend to have a nappy bag - just one nappy in my tiny handbag (I ALWAYS forget wipes!) and that's it. Now she's getting bigger and needs more entertainment, I suppose I should get a proper bag for toys etc.

This thread inspired me - I just bought a brand new nappy bag
I've grabbed a great deal of what's been said in this thread, and plan to add:
- My manual pump and an empty bottle for long car trips or if I'm feeling a bit full and Amelia's not hungry.
- A teething ring/toy
- A couple of other toys I'll put on link rings and hang off the bag
- A pouch of puree and a spoon
My new bag is awesome! I'll pop a few pics on Facebook soon to show everyone who has me
