Crimp your hair and combine with a side pony tail and teased up fringe (if you have a fringe)!

Also fluro (sp?) eye make up (green/blue/hot pink)

Crimp your hair ... if you can't get your hands on a crimping iron, wash your hair the night before and put it in a few small plaits. The smaller, the more crimped.

Huge plastic dangling earrings ... they don't even need to match

What sort of hair do you have? I'm seeing cropped denim jacket with bright pink top underneath, high waisted denim jeans, big perm and huge hoop earrings...

I cut my hair a few weeks ago, so it now sits above my shoulders which I am spewing about, as long luscious locks would have rocked

Loving the ideas... keep 'em coming!!

And the denim must be acid washed! Basically check out any Bon Jovi clip from the 80's and you should be fine

Or try and get your hands on a ra-ra skirt or happy pants, and a hypercolour t-shirt!

    And leg warmers!!!

You could rock out the denim even more with some Madonna-inspired lace gloves, a big bow headband to go with your teased fringe, cross or star necklace/earrings and definitely bright makeup (don't forget the 80s "racing stripe" blush!).

If you're feeling adventurous, Cyndi Lauper hair would be awesome!

Fingerless lace gloves, a wide belt, bubble skirt or bubble gum jeans. Ripped denim shorts over black tights with a bandana wrapped around either the waist or thigh. Big plastic bangles. You shouldnt have to go far. A lot of 80s fashion is being worn now. If you want bogantastic, stone wash denim with mocasins or thongs and a packet of Winnie blues tucked into the shoulder of a white tshirt, worn with a ragged flannel shirt.

See the following movies for inspiration: pretty in pink, girls just wanna have fun, breakfast club, st elmos fire, ferris buellers day off, top gun, the lost boys, the goonies, the outsiders, dogs in space, shame (warning content is heavy but clothing is typical 80s aussie bogan)

Yes!!! Gloves!! Why didn't I think of that

I need to find someone with a crimper. I think I will end up with the Madonna "do" and the gorgeous bow in her hair! Oh this will be tragic!

A t-shirt tied in a knot at the front. High wasted jeans and a very high fringe. Lots of tacky plastic bangles in bright colours.
