    Singing to Baby?

Do you have a particular song that you sing to your Bub? With the twins we had a song that always reminded us of the twins when we heard the line "Little team of Winners" Then when they were in NICU I always sang 'Baby mine' to them and also sang 'Say a little Prayer' Those 2 songs we also ended up playing at their funeral

Anyway, I am trying to think of a song for this Bub as I would love to start singing it and playing it so bub might recognise it when born.. I like 'Hushabye' which is a 50's song by the Mystics. (Youtube if you don't know it, it's pretty cool) I like that it has a line in it saying "Guardian Angels up above, take care of the one I love" Which to me means I'm singing to Taite and Seth as well, asking them to take care of Button lol.. Problem is, I cry when I hear it lol.. Talk about hormonal and pregnant..

So what songs/lullabies do you sing and why? Do they have special meaning? Or do you just like the song?

Elvis - Wooden Heart. Purely because mum sung it to us when we were kids.

"can't you see, I love you please don't break my heart in two, that's not hard to do because I don't have a wooden heart.
and if you say goodbye then you know that I shall cry, maybe I would die because I don't have a wooden heart"

Golden Slumbers by The Beatles - played/sang it to DD all the time when pregnant, and do so now as well. I really think it soothes her.

I also sing a lame little song I made up in the wee hours of the morning to the tune of 'frere jacques', with the lyrics:

    You're my baby,
    You're my baby,
    Baby girl,
    You're my world.
    You're my little baby,
    You're my little baby,
    Baby girl,
    You're my world.

I put her to sleep with that at least once a day.

Skida-ma-rink a dink a dink, skids-ma-rink a doo, I love you (they sometimes song it on play school). It was the song my mum always sang me while growing up.

Also the song in the Robert munst (sp) book, love you forever. It has also made it's way into our bedtime routine. If you haven't heard it. pLEASE you tube it! Beautiful story <3

I sing 'Hey little girl' by Jack Johnson before bed and 'Jesus loves me'.
We also sing other songs for fun like 'twinkle twinkle', 'Da glumph went the little green frog', '5 little ducks' etc.

PZ- I think it's safe to say I too will be making up songs, but will be easier when I know bubs name or gender. Although ATM I always call the bub Button, so could just make up songs with Button

Tellytubby - I'll search for it now

I'll look up the others too, not familiar with all those songs.

ETA: Tellytubby, I know the song now. Recognised it straight away

Oh dear Kaden, whilst you are sleeping
Dream of mummy, and daddy too
And wake up happy, my precious baby
We will play together very soon

Puts him to sleep every time

I think I've found my belly song.. Michael Buble's haven't met you yet. Although it's not specifically about pregnancy/birth, some of it reminds me of struggling with TTC and actually getting this baby here alive.. Particularly this bit..

    I might have to wait.
    I'll never give up.
    I guess it's half timing,
    And the other half's luck.
    Wherever you are.
    Whenever it's right.
You'll come out of nowhere and into my life.

    That's the TTC bit

And I know that we can be so amazing.
And baby your love is gonna change me.
And now I can see every possibility.

    Mmmm...

But somehow I know that it'll all turn out.
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.

This bit says I have faith that this baby will come home and I'll just love it and try really hard to be the best Mama
Amazing how songs can be interpreted, hey?
