    Does anybody else .....

Wash their mops, brooms, dustpan brooms etc on a weekly basis?

I have to give all of mine a good wash after I've cleaned, like this morning, swept, vaccd (all the floors incl carpets) and mopped the tiles, then I gave the head of the vacuum cleaner, the dustpan broom, the broom and the mop a good clean in domestos (other than a weekly thorough scrub of the toilet bowl, this is the only thing I use domestos on in the house)

I've also learnt that pouring boiling water on them will make the plastic bristles melt

I soak the mop in napisan, then rinse it in white vinegar.

I've never cleaned a broom in my life. Whacking it against a wall to loosen the fluff isn't cleaning

I soak my mop in bleach and water. And I am guilty of using a spray bottle of straight bleach for lots of things like the shower, bathroom & toilet. It just doesn't seem clean without it!

Tashybabe, I'm with you when it comes to brooms though. I find that scraping it on bricks works a treat!

Oh and i wash my dishes in almost boiling water and wear good lined rubber gloves to repel the heat. I am a bit anal like that

I rinse my mop in boiling water then leave it in the sun to dry... but what bugs me the most is my bucket...no matter what i do there is always a little bit of dirty water in the bottom...

    never done a broom...but i rarely sweep...i vaccum then mop =P

There's nothing wrong with good old fashioned over the top clean!

Oh and i forgot to add, I vacuum EVERY day, sometimes twice a day if I have time. But i think that's only because we have a dog

I soak my mop in a bucket of bleach and napisan after use - I like a white mop (I think it comes from my mum!). I do was the broom - but more like monthly not weekly - never thought of doing the vaccum head though!

I don't wash mine I just replace the mop heads often.

I do wash out the dustpan and brush once in a while.

    I thought I was anal...but apparently not! :P

I love a good white mop head!

I used to, but with my husband I now have "sneaky" dustpan / brush that he doesn't use. I have given up on the brooms. but I do hose out the cobweb broom when finished.

I have hosed them off the odd time.

Mop heads - I have a Vileda and an Oates microfibre so they go in the washing machine.

I sweep, then vac & then mop the tiles

Feel up to cleaning my house lol it needs a good clean.

I vac once then mop with a harsh chemical to maintain the grout and then I let it dry, vac again and steam mop to remove the chemical.
Mind you my floors stay clean only for a few days thanks to my lovely puppy dog. Lol

Then it is cleaned yet again lol
