yup far too young!
Have been watching DS with his toys, and noticed he is always going to use his left hand first, and uses it majority of the time.
Mainly when he is using one toy like a bat, hitting hanging objects on his play mat it is really evident.
I have been noticing this for some time now, but didn't think much of it.
So my question is, at what age did your childs hand dominance become apparent?
Is 4months way too young for this?
It's one of those things that has me curious!
Thanks!
yup far too young!
That's what I thought!

Yes way too young, the experts say usually by about 3 they've chosen a hand, but up till then, they still swap and change over. If he is a lefty - good for him, we are a talented bunch!
DS was a lefty at that age, but is sadly going with the crowd and being a boring righty now.
I always had thought based on DD grabbing things with her right hand from a young age that she was going to be right handed & yep, she is. I never put things in her hands, just infront of her & she almost always grabbed it with her right. (I am left handed & DH is right handed)
Well, I beg to differDS1 was a dominant left hander and still is (now 8yrs Old) from the time he started to grasp and pick up objects. For some kids, I think it is what is comfortable.
I have a DS2 who wavered and then became right handed and now DD who is steering to right handed as well, she is non comittal so I it looks like her right hand is calling
I think some lefty's are just dominant from the start IMO and you can pick it early on.
It really depends on the child.
DS1 was very obviously left handed from about 2 and a half, as far as drawing goes.
DS2 is the opposite. Id be extremely surprised if he ended up a lefty.
HOwever that said, whilst DS1 favours his left for writing/drawing/cutting, he bats right handed for cricket and teeball, but catches left handed (so with his right hand), and kicks a footy with his right foot.
