    Oven Cleaning

I am pretty certain a thread was started a while ago, just can't find it.

What's your best tip to clean your oven and in particular your oven door and also the racks?
Natural or chemical, give me your tried and worked tricks please.

ETA: I have self cleaning plates on the back and sides, so it's mainly the door, racks and ceiling.

We take our oven door off and apart to clean it. Comes up as new.
I put a lemon cut in half in a oven safe bowl of water (I also give the lemon a squeeze so some of the juice goes in the water) and stick it in the oven for a hour or so, the water will steam the gunk and the lemon makes it smell nice and helps with the cleaning too. Then I just wipe it clean with water, and vinegar if need be.
Once a year I'll usually get it professionally cleaned.

No tips to share, but you've just reminded me that mine is filthy dirty. We have a pyrolitic (self cleaning) oven but I've never tried it. Better get off my behind and do something about it.
I like the lemon idea...how high is the oven?

I do it for 180* until the oven is quite clearly steamed.
