    no. no. no.

so DS turned 2 a couple of months ago & for a good few months now 'no' has been the standard answer to almost everything

okay, that may be a slight exaggeration - we do get a grudging okay for some things & we're now getting 'of course' to things we were clearly already meant to just know.

i'm being a bit tongue-in-cheek but i'm also wondering when this phase starts to pass? i do understand that he's just realising that he has choices etc but it'll be nice when his standard answer to people who say hello isn't automatically NO!

I think it will pass around the age of 21

Seriously though he will vary it soon with "stop", "go away" and "leave me alone" if he is anything like my 2yo......

We went through it for probably a couple of months. Everything was no, even when it was yes. We get "okay" and "of course" too I'd call her on it. If she said no to a certain food that I knew she'd eat, I'd put it away - she'd end up asking for it! Hope it passes soon, drove us a little crazy!

I have DS2 always telling me 'no' and DS1 often telling me 'don't look at me'. Argh! It seems that they grow out of doing one annoying and grow into another annoying thing. It's not all bad tho

argh, i meant to come back on friday & post but got caught up over the weekend.

thank you all for your replies - it's good to know that i don't have the only LO saying NO! to most things.

triple j - what a polite DS you have!!

nai - 21 you say? eeek! i'm thinking though that most teenage boys seem to disappear into their rooms for a few years so we might get a break then...although it'll probably be back to grunting by then

my favourite is when DP tells him he's leaving for work/saying goodnight & can he have a kiss...which is usually met with a NO NO. then as soon as DP goes, we get kissing sounds. DP has learnt just to wait outside the door & then come back in for his kiss
