We got one done through big w. It was a little fiddly as the canvas size we wanted and the photo size we had didnt quite match but we got there in the end. Ive not gotten one from a printing place to compare them too, but the big w one looks the part. Mum has one from there too and its lasted 3 years? Maybe more without showing signs of age so far.
I'd stay away from places like Big W and Snapfish and would aim to go with a place that does them professionally. I can't tell you where DH used to go for his canvas images as I believe they have since closed, but I'll ask him if he has any other contacts he can pass on.
Big W and Snapfish are ok for your everyday digital image but with professional photos you want to go with someone who will do the canvassing custom to your image/images.
We were told by portrait place to use Teds Camera house to get any of our photos printed, especially if we wanted enlargements as they did the best ones.
I have used snappish a couple of times and they have been fine. They are cheapest, especially if you wait until near an event like mothers day/xmas etc when they have 30-50% of canvases. They also have a 100% satisfaction guarantee where they will fully refund you including postage. I have used this and they were really efficient even though the fault was mine - I didn't take into account the wrap around and our heads went over the edge.
BTW, if you don't want wrap around, select a mosaic print and then just put one image on and it let you choose a colored border for the sides.
Cool that is good to hear, so far at least
I will have a look at a few places but I keep putting off getting it done and I have told DH all I want for my birthday is a canvas wedding print...
Married 18 months and not a wedding picture in the house, its a bit sad really
I agree - I have used Snapfish for alot of things - cups, photo prints, photo books, etc - not canvas - but a friend had a great canvas photo she had done through Snapfish, which looks great....
We had some prints done by those photo places that are in the middle or shopping centres (tickled pink and the likes) and I bought the disk then got a few canvas shots done through snapfish/kmart & I am really happy with them.
Fabness fan here too. Have used Harvey Normal and Snapfish and both are good, but Fabness is ...well.. Fab! The quality and clarity of the image is far superior
I haven't used it but Living Social (similar to Scoopon) are doing a deal today with My Photo Expert says 199 ( 16x20") worth of print for 45 dollars. I got a canvas done for my parents at Snapfish and was very happy with it (it was a collage though so each individual pic was small so problems with quality not so likely to show up).
As someone that's just starting up a pro photography business, I may be a little biased, but nothing beats professionally done canvases. They last a lifetime. :-)
I agree with Heaven - Brilliant Prints are the best - if it was just a small canvas of something youre not likely to have on display forever - by all means get it done at snapfish or similar, but if its something special like a wedding pic - pay the extra - its TOTALLY worth it. We got an old print of my parents in the bush printed last year - the quality is amazing. Brilliant Prints have a FB page too so check them out
