My poor boy gets it at least 5 times a year and has done for all of his 3 and a half years.
My other boys all got it too and funnily enough (touch wood) Lady doesnt seem to have been cursed with it. However they had grown out of it by his age and certainly didnt get it as regularly as him.
It just bites! Watching him struggling to breathe, sounding like a dying seal, his chest heaving and sinking in and the blue lips!
The midnight trip to the hospital where I get treated like im a neurotic mother who hasnt done this before while I try to tell them the shower and steaming doesnt work for him so thats why I havent bothered with it. No he isnt sick there is no way of telling when an attack is going to happen.
Yes we do have prednisone at home but its too late when he wakes like this! He needs steroids and nebuliser, usually at least three lots too before he is breathing somewhat normally, and fast thanks as he has ended up in ICU with it before!
The poor thing is still at the hospital now with DH because he still has a strong strider (wheezy seal noise)
arrrrggggghhhhhhh I know im not a nurse or dr I havent done the study or degrees but its my kid!
Ok sleep deprived vent over, im sure it will all look better after a few hours sleep.
