urgent advice needed - Blotchy purple looking skin

Just some quick advice, I suspect my baby (8 months) is coming down with a cold, she is miserable, has a temp and runny nose. I just stripped her off and her skin is all blotchy and purply looking, not a raised rash though. Is this a normal symptom? Should I take her down to the Dr or am I being paranoid?

Take her to the hospital. Especially if the rash doesn't blanche (turn white when you press it). The rash sounds very strange.

My son had a dark purple rash and was suspected meningitis (only cause they forgot to get the blood culture before giving ab's!)
