    Agoraphobia

Does anyone here have any experience with Agoraphobia, either personal or anecdotal?

I have personal experience with claustrophobia, sorry I know that's the exact opposite.

In my late teens I suffered from Agoraphobia, and nearly relapsed earlier this year.

I read a very inspiring autobio about an Australian woman overcoming agoraphobia. I highly recommend everyone read it for better understanding.

Sunshine on my Shoulders by Jan Sparks

I have a few family members who suffer from anxiety and one who has periods where it's bad and she's agoraphobic. Not a fun way to live.

LOL, thanks anyway Maruschke Actually, I was surprised to find out today that agoraphobia isn't just a fear of going outside, it's actually a fear of being in a situation you can't control. In severe cases, the patient is so terrified of not being able to control their situation or make a quick getaway that they stop going outside at all.

I was referred to a site that does a Panic and Agoraphobia Test, like the Mental Health Checklist. According to my score, I have 'very severe agoraphobia with panic attacks'. Awesome. I'm glad I found out today though, because I HAVE to go to the doc this arvo, so I can talk to him about it then.
