When did you know your child have ADHD?

We had family over yesterday to meet ds4. Ds1 (3.5 year old) is going through what I think is just a fase of pushing boundaries and throwing a tanty when he doesn't get his own way. My SIL suggested ADHD! I wouldn't know the first thing about it or the warning signs for that matter! I wasn't offended in the slightest by it but would prefer to know anyones opinions or thoughts on how they came to knowing their child has it.

    TIA

My DD doesn't have ADD but at wen she was between 3-4yrs I noticed her behavior was extremely strong, she started biting and kicking through frustration A LOT! EVER-Y-DAY!!! We then decided to start her on our diet of nothing store brought, no gluten, dairy, soy or sugar. And it fixed everything! She came back from a party yesterday and turned into a MoNSTER!! I'm glad you took this feed back from ur family on board, but I'd look at a high veg, high fruit, nuts, seeds and all good things green before looking at going dwn the ADD track... But that's just my view...

People made comments to me that my son seemed over active when he was 18 months old. I only had one child so couldn't compare him. He progressively got worse as he got older and it became obvious when he started school. His teacher was the first to suggest that perhaps we should take him to the pediatrician and ask about ADHD. He has ADHD and started meds when he was 5 and a half. My DD1 was crazy around the same age as your DS but it was completely different to how my DS1 was.

Sent from my iPhone, so I apologise if it makes no sense.

Does he go to school or preschool or child care? Even playgroup? They might be able to advise you a little, or give you some pointers of what to look for.
