Private school interview with only one parent present... what are the chances?
I have applied to a private school for year one only this week for DD1. They still have a place left but we can't do the interview and get acceptance because DH is away for work until the end of October. They said we could do the interview then but I was wondering if I can't talk them into doing the interview with just me and DD. I would be devastated if we lost the place because someone else could do the interview sooner and got accepted. Should I take my chances and ask them or am I sounding too pushy? Surely they could phone DH place of work for a reference if they wanted to know if he is a drug dealer or something?
The interview is as much for you to suss out if you like the place as it is for them. Just so long as you will pay your fees on time, volunteer to help out with reading and/or the P&C and don't have 3 heads they won't care all that much who you are so if you want to do the interview without your DH go for it but it does mean that he won't get a chance to have a look at the school and suss out the vibe of the place. Two pairs of eyes is better than one and he might notice things that you don't or ask questions that you won't.
Actually if you will pay your fees on time and work for free they will probably overlook the 3 heads issue.
