What to do...on AB's, but still has a mild fever?

DS2 is almost 9mths old. For the past week and a half, maybe more, he had been quite grumpy, wakeful at night, whingy and clingy. I put it down to teething. Then he started getting mild fevers, a rash and off his food, so I took him to the doc and he said he had a slight ear infection and throat infection. So doc put him onto some AB's, 3 times a day. Which he has been on since Wednesday last week (so, 6days now). I have given them to him properly (though have missed it once or twice) and it's nearly finished.
But yesterday and today, he's had mild fevers again. Usually about 38.2 (ish). He is hot to touch, really grumpy and clingy. I can't put him down, literally or he screams the house down. He's been sleeping every 2hrs for about 45mins or so today. He's waking at night 100 times again. Shouldn't he be better by now if the AB's are doing their thing?
Should I go back to the doc? Wait another day and see what happens? I will probably need to wait til tomorrow to get a doc's appointment again anyway. WWYD?

id go back hun, it may be a virus but he needs a review, id ring today and explain that he needs to be seen today, given his age they should see him

I agree with Olive, and chances are the bug that's bothering him today is different to the bug he had last week.
