Argh, this 'getting guests to pay their own meal' request is doing my head in . I've got a strong suspicion that my Uncle (my most unfavourite lol) will call / email me and ask to pay for all the meals.....ARGH!
I'm trying to be a bit unique in the invite wording though - any thoughts on these, or if you've got some other suggestions i'm open to it!
It's Joe's 70th Birthday
Now he's over the hill
Instead of giving him a gift
He'd rather you pay your food bill
'Host Bar'
OR
It's Joe's 70th Birthday
So we'd love to see you there
Instead of giving him a gift
He'd prefer you pay your fare
'Host Bar'
Both of those sound fine, not offensive at all. If said uncle calls, just say "No, I'm not paying for everyone. Did you not read the invite?" I'd leave it at that.
