Question Toilet Training and Day Sleeps

Our DS is around 3 and a half now. He doesnt always have a day nap, during the day he is toilet trained, will even take himself to the toilet. However, on the days that he has a sleep (usually unplanned) he will simply sleep through his weeing. He will continue to sleep even when wet?

What do I do? He isnt distressed by it when he wakes but he is aware that he has had an accident.

He is not close to night training for the above reasons and he always wakes in a wet nappy.

Any ideas on what to do for the day naps when they happen? Or is this something that will eventually just 'click'?

    TIA

I am assuming he is in a nappy at night?? Could you put him in a nappy for his day sleeps as well or a pull up and tell him that it is JIK?? DS still has a nappy for naps and night time and about 50% of the time he is dry for both but other times they are heavy wet so am assuming it will take quite a while for him to gain control at night and while asleep during the day.

We used make sure that DD sat on the toilet before naps to try and minimise the chance of having an accident. If he is doing it fairly frequently, it's probably worth still putting a nappy on him for naps. Shouldn't impact on the toilet training, just explain that it's just for nap time.

Just re-read and you said that most naps are unplanned - does he just crash somewhere? That makes it a lot trickier if you can't really plan for it, not sure I've got any ideas sorry.

DS only ever slept for an hour or so through the day so I think the fact that he can go upto 6 hrs without weeing (and yes I do recognise that isn't a good thing) that it had a lot to do with him not peeing while he sleeps through the day.

I don't really know except think that it is something that just clicks sorry I don't have anything more concrete

With day training he just one day clicked and off he went to the toilet and has been since, but he has no idea of his body when he sleeps, day or night. For instance I can have taken him to the toilet just before he do something and he will fall asleep and instantly wee himself. We were driving home the other day and he fell asleep in the car (It was a five minute trip) and he managed to wee through everything. He is no where near ready for night training and Im not sure what else to do for when he has these sleeps.
